Run Wii Homebrew - No Modding Necessary
chief blaze | 9:04 AM on 01.29.2008 4 comments

wow, i dont even own a wii but this could certainly provide me reason to. ok, actually thats not true, im waiting for wii 2.0 when it will be really fun to play, right now its still kinda kiddie to me, but i havent played the thing in over a year, and even then it was more about taking bong hits and trying to beat that little tank game (i still have the simple beat in my head)

back to the news

source: http://www.wiili.org/forum/wii-zelda-exploit-run-homebrew-without-a-modchip-t3429.html#17374

So apparently some dudes found an exploit in Zelda, that crashes the game and lets them insert there own code and thus an exploit is born. Im not much into the mod and hacking scene, but I do love it when people can load linux and whatever they hell they want to do wit there console. i dont support piracy but i do support abandonware and divx abled consoles and also giving people the freedom to tinker around.

i only own a 360 at the moment and dont play on getting it moded, but once the ps3 drops down, i think im going to convert it to more of a home entertainment box than a game console, who knows pure speculation on my part.

anyways heres the copy+paste from the article:

It is now possible to run homebrew without a modchip Very Happy . This was achieved using a exploit on Zelda found by Bushing along with Segher .

Wiki page: http://www.wiili.org/index.php/Homebrew

A modified save game from Zelda crashes the Wiii and let them run their own code on it.

This paves the way to finally running Linux on the Wii, without a modchip. While news and information are little now, watch this post develops as information becomes available.

Interesting, although I've invested too much in the VC to risk doing something that could potentially brick my system.

Ooooooooo. Colour me intrigued as all hell, purely from a homebrew standpoint. Handy that it's in a game pretty much all wii owners have too.
