In a perfect world we would all be connected to our Compbots and they would download all the latest and greatest games wherein our Dopeassamaphones would alert us asap and we would play with happiness because games no longer cost money in this Utopian world. Like star trek but less alien sex.

Now I'm completely up for a world where i wouldn't have to leave my home to get all the great media that comes out. A console to get all my downloadable"s, a PC to use my steam and iTunes account, an iPad for all my magazine subscriptions, and Kindle for my book collection. The only time I would leave the house would be to get food and liquor, up until i figure out this whole gardening and distilling ethanol thing works. Now some would ask if this is a bad thing to be cut off from the world and that's where a much more intellectual debate can sprout. But were talking about videos games so will keep it reined in.

I myself love the accessibility of downloadable's I have purchased more then my fair share of games online and will probably continue to do so. I ask myself why is it so easy to get downloadable"s games. Is it the trek to the store, the interactions with people or just the general lower price point.

I myself being a cheap ass always thought that price always had the biggest blow to me. the fact that i can spend $60 on steam and picks up 5 to 10 games means i cna extend my continued thriftiness and wait till the newer games drop in price. A systematic way to hold myself over much like a junkie does some low end stuff till he can acquire the grade A heroin. I think my example is a bit off but i think it'll at least hold the thought of what I'm trying to get across.

I found though that this theory was shattered when my brother and I bought Assassins Creed 2: Brotherhood for $40 on PSN. the price at first deterred me but my brothers continued harassment brought upon the eventual confirmation click that sealed my credit cards fate. Now I'm playing and loving the game that I always wanted to pick up but never felt it deserved much effort to acquire. But with a few clicks the digital translation took place and I feel the simplicity of it made it that much easier.

I think we as humans sometime make the choice to do something wrong if only cause it was so simple to make a mistake that we could easily re-adjust blame. Be it a simple click of a mouse or mispronounced lovers name in carnal lust. We do it to see how far we can go, and in my curiousness i stumbled on something i blame to continue to use.

Downloadable's take me now

The convenience factor -- second only to the fact that it makes indie development easier -- is the best part of the DD revolution. No doubt about that.
