This is my first blog (be gentle):
Guitar Hero 3 came out on Sunday and I've got to spend my whole afternoon and night playing that thing...
Here are some things that I liked and disliked -
Things I liked:
-Wireless guitar controller - Finally, I can play without worrying if my dancing skills while playing will yank the cord out of the Xbox.
-Song Selection - Who would've thought "When You Were Young" was such a fun song to play!
-Online Co-Op Matches - Now I can have someone to play with online instead of pretending I'm in a room with shit ton of people to impress!
Things I disliked:
-Songs ONLY available if you played offline Co-Op career - Wait a minute... so you mean I have to have a friend who is pretty decent to come over and play co-op career so I can unlock Sabatoge or Monsters? Are you serious!? Who has real life friends?
-Guitar Battles - I was kinda skeptical at first when they first announced this but I was willing to give it a try and I must say, it's rather annoying. How is it possible that I beat Tom Morello and Lou the Devil on the first try but not Slash? I mean, I understand that Slash is indeed a God in himself, but seriously... he's the hardest battle in the entire game? No wai!
-Wireless Guitar Controller - So I liked the fact that it was wireless, but even after calibrating the guitar, it seemed off (am I the only one experiencing this?) and wouldn't read the notes correctly even though I hit the note and held on for dear life so I can get more Star Power!
- Dragonforce - Are you kidding me? Even on Medium, it was impossible to play that song (maybe I should've taken a break, but by the time I got to the last boss and the credits, my hand was cramping like crazy. It still hurts today), but it was still fun. I'm also just bitchin' because I can't finish it without messing up... *petrified sad face*
- Knights of Cydonia - Whoever decided to map the buttons for this song should be fired. It starts off great then the electronic part totally kills it. They should've considered putting any other Muse song to replace Knight of Cydonia. Perhaps Time is Running Out (kickin' bass line), Stockholm Syndrome, or even Plug In Baby!
- No Lobby in Creating Matches - I don't know why they didn't think of this. What if I wanted to continue playing songs with my friends online? I have to host another match because GH3 doesn't support a lobby feature so I can talk to my friends after we've played 7 songs to discuss how awesome we are at losing note streaks? Totally lame!
- The Achievements - At least I have SOME potential in acquiring some achievements in Rock Band. Jeezus Christ... I seriously have to be a Guitar Goddess to get them all. My tiny hands can't quite reach the orange button so Hard and Expert is extremely difficult for me. God damn you, orange button!
Overall, I give GH3 a 8/10. It's now Rock Band's turn. BRING IT.

You should write for EGM.
Maybe his likes greatly overpowered his dislikes. It's called nitpicking, man.
@ ajaxender
The first time I heard Muse was the awesome song Stockholm Syndrome. They could definitely have picked it, I just don't know why they didn't.

That is so fucking weak, dude. Reviews are based on subjectivity more than objectivity, and I bet you remember tons of times when you play a game that got scored poorly and you thought, "This isn't that bad, so what the hell!" Each reviewer does their best to make a list the pros and cons of the game, because consumers don't get the games sent to them for free - we have to pay for them. You should not just count the likes and dislikes and say "Well, you had more dislikes then likes, so obviously the score should be lower." What if all the good things made up for the bad things. Not to mention that a negative to one person could be a positive to another - thus the subjectivity I stated before permeates all reviews of entertainment.
For a slightly different perspective, check out Shawn Eliot's rant in the most recent GFW Radio Podcast. You'll be better for it, I promise.
On-Topic:
Great first post, caffdawg, thanks for distilling the experience of GHIII for people who are trying to decide whether or not to pick it up...like me for example.
