Now that I'm done being an asshole and shoving my pathetic personal life down your throats (I should grow up and get over it I know) we can get to the more fun things.
I'm Gabriel Cadalzo. I'm an 18 year old who gets told at Gamestop that he is underage and can't buy M-Rated games, they don't even bother asking for I.D. Fuck you Gamestop, but I digress. I'm originally from Long Island but I'm now at college majoring in Computer Science. Although if I had my way, I'd be a pirate.
Let's get the obvious out of the way first, I'm on Destructoid so yes I love video games. They've been a part of my life since before I can remember. Is it sad that I don't know what the first game I played was because I honestly don't remember a time they weren't in my life? Games have shaped who I am and they even helped me get into college. My entire college essay was about video games and their impact on my life (I may post it here at some point). Don't judge me, there was a point where it may have been about Anthony Burch and his huge influence on me. I may write a piece on that sometime soon.
Things to know about me are I'm a huge fan of Doctor Who and Game of Thrones. If you look below this paragraph you can a see a picture of me dressed as the Eleventh Doctor. I wouldn't call the Eleventh my favorite but I do like him quite a bit. My favorite would be David Tennant, I bet no one has said that before. Although I haven't seen much Classic Who Patrick Troughton is fucking awesome, he's definitely a close second to Tennant. As with Game of Thrones I read the first book and then decided I'm lazy and just watched the show from then on. It makes me angry how consistently good that show is. IT'S SOOOOO GOOD!
Jumping ships back to games, I have way too many games I consider my favorites. The three though that I can say with no hesitation are Fable II, Alan Wake, and Enslaved: Odyssey To The West. Alan Wake and Enslaved are more similar and I love them for the most of the same reasons. The combat in the game has a cinematic flare that you don't get in many other games. While the overall stories may not be something to run home to mom about the characters, storytelling, and writing had me engrossed the whole way through. I'm anxiously awaiting Alan Wake 2 and am simultaneously devastated about Enslaved being a flop. Although if the rumors are true then Ninja Theory's next game will be an original IP and not DmC 2 (thank christ).
When it comes to Fable II, that game is me. It is my number one favorite game. It's an RPG that doesn't go too in depth with it's skills, it doesn't take itself too seriously, the combat is fast and fluid, the world is big and beautiful with lots of secrets, and THERE IS A MISSION ABOUT BEING A PIRATE AND DOING THE TREASURE HUNTING THING THAT PIRATES DO!
I'd be a criminal though if I didn't mention the best part of Fable II which is the dog. YOU GET A DOG. The game just gives you a dog! I love dogs so this aspect of the game was right up my alley. I don't know how else I can explain this part. You can play fetch with the dog and then the dog gets the ball you threw and brings it back to you. IT'S AMAZING! Call of Duty: Ghosts seems to be taking heavy influence from Fable II. Also there are fish in Fable II and there are fish in COD: Ghosts, just saying.
As you can tell by the last paragraph I'm someone who will go off on random comedic (although they aren't funny because I'm not funny) tangents about things that don't matter. But I usually will get back to the point. I also will push a joke so far down your throat you'll have no choice but to kick me in the balls.
Really I'm just someone who cares immensely about games and the games industry. I love talking about the gaming industry, current news pertaining to it, and of course all of the DRAMA that ensues (Phil Fish, Mike Krahulik, etc.) Although it's so hard for me to find people to talk about these things with because the people my age want to talk about are the games themselves. They just want to say what their favorite part was and how cool it was when "X" happened. Or they want to talk the multi-player and their strategies which I have no interest in. I suck at multi-player and don't play it too often. But whatever now I just sound like a whiny bitch.
Anyways I consider myself a very honest and nice person who just likes to shoot the shit with people. I also consider myself an opinionated asshole who hates all the music you like (probably). I look forward to reading the community blogs and meeting some new people.
P.S. I like fun, so let's all take a minute and think about how fun riding a cow would be.
