This is just a compilation of the games I feel have impacted my gaming experience as a whole.
Metroid Prime, Metroid Prime 2:Echoes - These games brought the world of Metroid into 3-D,
specifically the first game which set the standard, then the equal but not as epic second game. I
specially did not include Metroid Prime 3, because it is a terrible game and strayed off the path of the
original formula of the two first games, it was rubbish.
Socom 2 US Navy Seals - This game was the defining title for PS2 that brought everyone who
owned the console into a relatively dependable online experience. I reminisce of countless hours
into the night playing this title, remembering the explosions and the sound of the mic when you'd talk
to people. The graphics were adequate for its time, the controls worked and it was such a blast to
piss people off. This defined what it meant to play online FPS on PS2.
Halo was the very reason why I wanted to buy an Xbox. The only word I could use to
describe the scope and scale of this game is epic, and the gameplay along with the story held up
strong to this. Seeing the Halo above you at any times and wide angle shots of huge structures made
this game so good to look at I could hardly believe I'm just here to shoot things. It is not the best, but it
defined how a game should look and feel 'epic'.
I have to include Resistance in my post because I loved the emotional feeling of the game. The
graphics were good enough to give a real sense of invasion, and the torn environments made the
atmosphere that much deeper. The online experience was the first decent one on the PS3, and was
a really good game when it was released.
I never cared for the Metroid Prime series, but that's just me. I enjoy some level of linearity in my games, I feel this is the bets way to convey a truly amazing story (Bioshock, Half-Life series, Halo).
I was playing Halo PC the other day, and it was kind of 'meh.' That's probably just because it's an older game and most of today's shooters built off of Halo and made improvements and tweaks to the formula. I remember playing it a few years ago and having more fun.
Are you planning on staying this time or are we having a contest or something?? ;) Come join us for Friday Night Fights.
I can't beat the final boss in Killzone 2 because I played through it on Hard the first time so I'm kind of stuck, otherwise it is a solid game. Resistance 2's co-op was alright, but I felt the game was a compilation of gimmicks rather than a solid piece of software like R1. I'll be on often now, because I finally figured out my pass.
The ending isn't very good. It's just an obvious cliffhanger and more of Rico being an asshole. Sorry for the spoiler, but trust me, it's not like it would have surprised you anyway. Like you didn't see Rico continuing to be a dick coming. You're not missing much.
Radec is the final boss in KZ2 right?
Yeah.
@TEEN IDOL - My favorite map of all time; a title that stretches across all online shooters, has got to be Fishhook. The memories of sniping from the bridge, to posting up in the building with the hostages and rigging the doors with mines, to rushing up the center, the map had everything with so much going on at once it felt like an actual Seal Vs Terrorist conflict.
I agree. It is a solid and unique title, but it's really just a basic shooter. Not that it's not really really good, it's just not phenomenal. Frustratingly difficult too.
Yeah, that's true. R1 was very good but your right that R2 is fairly different. However my personal preference would be R2. I got a tone of hours out of that game, and while the story wasn't as good as R1, it was a blast to play. I love the Chicago level, it is so diverse and where your never doing anything twice. I really like that level. Also you say you like British voices acting in games have you given Killzone 2 a shot. PUN!!!!!
