My Modded 360
brainderailment | 1:02 PM on 06.24.2008 22 comments

I had a post earlier that had a photoshopped list of changes that I thought should be made to the 360. I also mentioned that I'd put up pictures of my 360 once I got my camera back. So here it is.

Yesterday's 5 second photoshop.

Ok, no more fooling around.

I acquired the console without a power supply or a HDD, so I got a $15 pc power supply adapter and a $15 (+12V18A) Power supply to drive the thing.

I added this 80mm fan which is located directly above the remote GPU heat sink and next to the CPU heat sink. It may stick out like a tumor, but it keeps the console significantly cooler. I cut the hole out by using a dremel (compressed air powered) and a protractor.

And why would anyone put a 3rd party fan on their console that doesn't have lights all over it?

I bought the replacement internal fans for the box because I burned up the stock fans trying to jump them to run at full speed constantly. Not because I like glowing lights. Either way, this fan moves more air and runs quieter than the stock ones do all while running at the same voltage.

Here is my parts url list.

Rear fans

PC PSU adapter

Side fan

Power supply

I love my PS3 more though.

Hmmm, maybe I should do that to mine too someday :)

Surprising lack of red lights btw!

I like glowy things that aren't radiation-related. Thumbs up!

Wow ... that's is pretty freaking incredible. The only thing extra I wouldn have added is a glass window to see into it, but that's just me.

Nice man, my 360 just came in the mail yesterday so its perfect timing. While I wom't be doing this to it while the warranty is still there its nice to see something fairly simple to do to address the overheating issues. It won't replace my PS3 though.

Way to go Brain! It's useful and somewhat good looking. Imagine modding the 360 and you get a RROD after that. Try to explain to MS what happened to you console. No, I like this mod because it's about usefulness which always comes first.

Very nice brain, I hope it can decrease the chance of red ring. Very glowy.

wow that is some tight work there brain! great job, I can't believe you made an actual Tumor that gives life to the RROD.

The Blue light of life? You should patent your modded xbox incase MS decides to fix it in the future. Earn your millions!

YOU KNOW YOUR CONSOLES A REDNECK WHEN....
IT DOESNT COME WITH ITS OWN POWER SUPPLY AND YOU HAVE TO DREMAL THE THING TO MAKE SURE IT DOESNT BREAK!
