I was filled with joy and hope that the day of the US election I would be able to play the 20 free rock band songs and watch as the polls rolled in. Alas, it looks like only one of those dreams may come true today.
The
Rock Band website told us a while back that these 20 free songs would be released today, and so far they have not been. I'm not sure if the world has forgotten about them, possibly due to the obscure nature of the tracks, or if nobody cares.
I, however, do care. In honour of my caring, I think I'll do a little speculation. I think that maybe Rock Band 2 doesn't want to release these songs right now. It's pretty hot on the heels of the recent release of Guitar Hero: World Tour. I don't think the release of 20 free songs from artists that no one has ever heard of ever (if you dispute this, please just shut up) will bring any sort of happy light to your older, but amazing, product. With the gauntlet of releases pouring out right now, I don't think Ea/MTV/Harmonix needs the headline "20 crap songs put out on rock band" when their last announcement was their mass money exchange for a slice of the beatles.
Anyways, in closing I'd just like to say..
Where are my damn songs?
