About Me
So I like JRPGS (jarpegs) a lot. So much so that I have a (half)drawer-full of unbeaten games. It's somewhat of an addiction, I guess. My blog header shows my current count of unbeaten games. And by "unbeaten" I do not mean "unplayed" so if some of you are shocked by seeing über-classics like Valkyrie Profile and Xenogears sitting around with my other games collecting dust and wondering why any so-called fan of Jarpegs would have not played those already--relax because I have... just not to their ending credits. But I will get there. Someday. Oh Pesona for the PSP?

Damn, I'll never get through them all...

Professor Layton and the Obligatory Animated Film
bookstore moon | 12:49 AM on 08.28.2009 8 comments

Japan is getting a new animated movie about the incredibly popular puzzle-solving Professor Layton this December entitled Professor Layton and the Enternal Diva.

I actually found out about the movie from an email I received this morning from my Japanese ex-girlfriend. At first, I was worried that it was going to be a live-action movie. I don't know why, I just expect the worst I guess when it comes to movies based on video games. But with its 3D rendered backgrounds and cutesy 2D animation, fans have nothing to fear as the film beautifully captures the visual aesthetic of the games.

The information about the story I have gleamed from the trailer seems to suggest that Professor Layton and Luke are trying to stop the performance of the Eternal Song which bestows eternal life at some sort of cost... like lots of people first being sacrificed to the bottomless pit. Or something like that.

Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva is set to be released on December 19th in Japan.

Since the West has only seen two Professor Layton games as apposed to three--with a fourth one to be released this November in Japan, don't expect the film to make it over here for a while, if at all. For now, check out the trailer here.
