zERO cOMMENT!
Goddamn capslock
I played it for a few, got quickly bored. I hate skating games, but Skate is definetely better. One thing that really pissed me off about Proving grounds is that it decided to have a camera angle that was even shittier than Skate's. Awesome.
God..I couldn't even play proving ground. So unrealistic.
I'll expand on it soon, but... YOU DON'T EVEN BEND YOUR LEGS TO OLLIE.
That bad, huh? Wow.
I've been a fan of the series for a long time, but after THPS3... things started to disintegrate.
This post doesn't renew my faith. At all.
Well, I started hating the series after THPS3 also, BUT Project 8 was a refreshing change.
I think skate. just accomplished what it set out to do. Tony Hawk games are dead to me.
I did play a bit of Project 8, and it was decent-- getting away from the Jackass humor did wonders for the series, I thought. The getting on and off of the skateboard thing that THUG started was also a nail in the coffin.
I'm a fan of the Tony Hawk sries, barring THAW that is. I have both demos on my HDD and I plan on deleting Skate as soon as I need space. I can't get used to the controls or camera on Skate. THPG is like slipping on an old comfy pair of jeans for me. I don't skateboard so I might be a little bias, but I like the arcade feel on the Tony Hawk series. That being said I don't plan on getting THPG untill Febuary or so just because I have Halo 3 in 2 weeks to ruin my life. I'll get Skate. when it drops to 30 bucks just for the X Games part of it.
I used to love the Tony Hawk franchise, but after Project 8 I said well that was fun but I think i'm taking a long break from skating games. After hearing about Skate and Proving ground, and playing demos for both I can say the break is still on. The controls for skate, while new and somewhat innovative(please take it easy on me for using that word) are a just a bit too much for me, as for Proving Ground, it was just another Tony Hawk game to me.
Yeah so listen, if you hate the controls of skate you should play it through more than once
Having had hands-on action with the full game (beta builds, mind you) and played through the demo AT LEAST 10 times (that's not sarcasm... I'm saying 10 just to be safe) I can personally say I love the controls MUCH MORE than tony hawk's omfgbuttonsmash
I'll save myself from having to type up my impressions twice, however just know I've purchased and completed EVERY SINGLE tony hawk (even THPS2X and their THUG re...release on PSP) and have absolutely no plans on purchasing proving grounds, I've kissed the series goodbye and saved my wallet from unnecessary abuse (after all... alcohol can get expensive)
*NOTE TO ACTIVISION* I have no plans on purchasing it... however if I were to find a copy in my mailbox it would be pretty cool
That's disappointing.
The new demo didn't feel right to me either. Don't know what it was about it.
But I know the first thing I had to do was adjust the camera, because I was not feeling the "new angle" at ALL.
