I like old games. They're all my craputer will run, a regular lamentation as I wander past shelves of the Bioshocks, the Calls of Duties and the like. I also feel bad about pirating software when there's a viable alternative.

With these things in mind, would you say GameTap would be up my alley?

I've been considering it for awhile now, but I'd like some opinions or experiences with the service if you'd be willing to share.

(And yes, I know this would be better served on the forum, but the damn thing still won't let me log into it.)

Well it does have a free trial, i suggest you try that if you really wanna know. It gives you access to pretty much everything. But you only get a certain ammount of games and a couple of days to try it all out.

But IMO from playing the trail it is WORTH checking out. I personally liked finally being able to play the old Tomb Raiders since I never got to play them on Shitstation one.

GameTap has a lot of good games, and since a majority of them are really really old school then I suppose it would be up your alley. Even the games for non-subscribers (read:free) are pretty good.

Had Gametap for well over a year now and I haven't had anything to complain about yet. The Neo Geo games alone make it worth getting.

I beleave they still give free 1 month trials to the gold service, download it and give it a shot. I love gametap, on top of the retro offerings they also have newer games for free like overlord and jericho which it a great way to try out games with shaky reviews.

...I am intensely aroused by the fact that they've licensed Quest for Glory 1-3, yet confused and disturbed that they left off 4.

You can try the first month for a dollar. Just go for that, I think you'll love it.

On top of that, every month a certain selection of their games are free to play!

So I would try to boot up one of the free games and think to yourself: Well, it's gonna be like this, but with 900 games instead of 1.

I've got Jaws Unleashed downloading as we speak. Always wanted to try this one. Never felt like shelling out the $8.

I'm quite pleased with the download speed so far. That was one of my main concerns, really.

You can also do 50 games for free- they keep on swapping out which ones are free.

Jaws Unleashed is hilarious. Hilarious in that so bad it's funny-- if the camera and controls were a bit better, it might have been a good guilty pleasure.
