We made a late night run to Walmart tonight. Well, technically we had a late dinner at Denny's, the Walmart was right around the corner and we decided to round out the groceries list, but that's beside the point... While we're there, I stopped the check the printers. Mine died a horrible shattering death when a herd of cats charged under my desk and garrotted themselves on every wire down there. I was not happy.

So I see a nice little Lexmark number. Small, compact, $25. Sounds perfect, right? I'm pulling it off the shelf when I notice a teensy disclaimer in the corner of the packaging: "Black ink not included."

Fuck. I go to check the ink prices. $17. Fuck.

I look at the next step up in the printer models. $45. Damn. If it's going to cost the same amount, I figure I may as well go up a notch if it includes the ink. Which it didn't. Fucking fuck. Turns out the bare minimum I'd have to drop in order to get a printer that includes both cartridges would be $65.

This is ass. Thanks a lot there, Sinster Cabal o' Printer Manufacturers. You lost the shit out of a sale because you can't toss me a damn black ink cartridge. Up yours.

I had to go buy ink today, HP Print Cart # 57 was $35.99 and #58 was $19.99, what a fucking racket. I almost just bought a new printer.

The printer racket is a huge ripoff. They used to bundle the ink and sell it at a loss, because they knew that you'd have to buy more ink eventually. Then people started outsmarting them and buying entirely new printers because it was cheaper than buying a new ink cartridge.

I'd buy a laser printer if I were you. They start around $100, and the toner lasts forever if you don't print all the time. And it doesn't dry out like ink printers tend to do.

Or you could just drip the ink out of pens into the ink cartridge thingies after they run out. Pens are a lot cheaper than printer cartridges.

LOL'd so hard at om nom nom money eating printer and @Necros! But yeah I don't even print stuff at home anymore, cartridges are ridiculous.

I don't print anything at all anymore. If I need info I copy it by hand from the screen.

Cartridge refill kits are a good deal if you can find them for $15 or less.

Shaving's an even bigger racket. I've half considered purchasing a straight razor and a stroop.

...Correct me if I'm wrong, but that printer is printing money.
