I recently acquired the PC version of this through a friend of mine. He said he didn't want it (didn't measure up to KOTOR, apparently), so I offered my disposal services. Pride is not a personal foible of mine, you see.

I'd say I'm about halfway through it and must say I'm quite enjoying the game so far. KOTOR remains one of my favorite RPGs out there, but the twitch-based combat of Jade Empire is a refreshing change from PAUSE-UNPAUSE-PAUSE-UNPAUSE-PAUSE-UNPAUSE. That always drove me nuts. The story is a little hammy but remains interesting. Sound is appropriately atmospheric...

I don't get it. Why'd this game -- a Bioware title, even -- seemingly get glossed over? I realize the porthood, but you'd think someone else with a computer would be interested in playing it.

Meh, it's a great game, but for some reason, I just didn't like it as much as KOTOR. Oddly enough, I couldn't care less about Star Wars, and I still liked KOTOR better. I was really looking forward to Jade and maybe one day I'll finally finish it.

I played the game and enjoyed it, but I think it might have been a case where everyone was expecting something better than KOTOR and then they got an 8.5 game which didn't live up to their hype, that or most people aren't interested in the setting.

I played this a bunch and thought it was fucking great. And then I just stopped playing. It's still on my computer, I should get back to it sometime. If I could just stop playing .hack//GU...

Unfortunately there's a glitch that a lot of people encounter where two npc who are susposesed to enter a room during a fight do not, I am one of those people. I was having fun before that happened too.

Jade Empire made me realize what I didn't like about KOTOR: the gameplay.
The story and Star Wars theme got me so into it.

I really liked the game for what its worth. One tip, if you haven't got there already, there comes a time when you fight some british dude for the honor of china (like that Jet Li movie fearless) but after you defeat him you get to choose a prize, pick his gun (i think it's named bessie). It has a long load time but that thing was very powerful.

Jade Empire, at least what I've played of it, is really fun. I' got about 6 hours into the game and then most likely bought something with prettier graphics...

I'll go back to it soon and I'm sure I'll enjoy it.

I really enjoy Jade Empire. I think that Bioware can make solid RPGs that are (zomg) DIFFERENT than the standard Squenix model. To be honest, it's quite refreshing.

The two KotOR games are two of my favorites, but that's mostly because I'm a huge Star Wars fan. Roleplaying Jedi is teh sex. Jade Empire satisfies my extreme fascination with Eastern culture, specifically Japan (Samurai, etc). It was a win-win in my book.
