HEY GUIZE WHO CARES WHAT ANYONE ELSE WROTE I GOT THIS PICTURE AND IT'S TEH FUCKING AWESOME DISCUSS LOOLLXLXZZ!!! FUCK PUSHING STORIES AND SHIT DOWN LOOK AT ME!!
...yeah, in case anyone missed it, this is on the fucking post page:
Should this post be a BLOG or a FORUM?
You'll get better feedback if you know the difference.
BLOGS are public journals -- they are meant to be editorial in nature. A good blog post should have a concise title, contain news or original thoughts on a topic, photos, links, videos and tagged with a topic. A great blog tells a story and states an opinion that leaves room for discussion. Our favorite c-blogs get promoted to the home page.
FORUMS are similar to blogs, but they are more like the beginning of a conversation. If you have a quick question or want to begin a discussion without writing a paragraph on a topic, please post it in our forum instead. Dtoiders with similar interests will go into your thread to discuss.
Destructoid is a very active community -- people should respond in a few moments after you set your blog or forum live. We recommend not posting "write ups" -- just blog from your own voice. Keep it casual, we're all here to have fun after all.
Honestly, this stern lecture would carry a bit more weight if the rules applied to everyone across the board. If a new user does something like this it's nonstop flaming, but anyone who's been around for a while gets a free pass and it's LOL all around.
That's fine and all, I'm not trying to be a Nazi, but people shouldn't turn around and bitch others out for the same thing they just condoned a minute ago.
There's a time and a place for them. That's all I'll say.
That said, I don't read every single blog, so this isn't an issue for me. I'd like to recommend engaging in selective c-blog reading. If the post title looks like shit... then you must acquit. Or something.
I think the main problem is that the forums aren't mentioned/pushed enough for anyone to know or sometimes care about. I like the forums, but I save my one line discussions for IRC (another thing no one knows about). Maybe one of the forum cats could look into a Forum Recap, much like the blog recaps we see during the week. It would pull a considerable amount of people from the c-blogs, and introduce them to our forum community.
Also, I'm fucking tired of one line posts. I'd rather just tell half these kids to GTFO my innernets than have them annoy you fourmsters.
There's a formula for old-timers; I'm surprised nobody has mentioned it. For every three normal, somewhat thought-out blogs you write, you get an assblog. Just whatever you want.
Me, I've been saving mine up, and I'm gonna pick a day and go all WiiSucks on your asses.
I mean shouldn't one sentence blogs be a reward for sticking around and not being a noob. I always saw it as putting in the effort and becoming a member of the community gives you enough cred to pull one off. If you don't have the cred then you can't pull it off. That simple.
Maybe dtoid just needs a sidebar feature with the same prominence as the community blogs (or even on the main c-blog index) that is basically a box of ongoing comments. That way people can get their little shout out and not take up blog space.
And I know twitter generally does this, but not everyone enjoys twitter.. myself included.
I agree with Char. There are quite a lot of members out there that have some kind of "fail immunity" on the cblogs and it doesn't matter what they post. It's confusing sometimes, especially to new users.
I just do what Sharpless does and go by post title and the few sentences that go with it. I know I shouldn't have to, but if people are given the opportunity to draw attention to themselves, plenty will take it. Too bad you can't really appeal to people who are deluded.
There needs to be a better (and preferably hidden) way of telling fail posts that they fail, like a fail button that if it gets pressed enough, that member is prevented from blogging for a set amount of time. Or something like a three-blog limit per day per user, or a min/max word quota. But Niero is too nice to do that to people.
Seeing people throw shit-fits over these silly blogs will never cease to amuse me. What's even more hilarious is that this trend started thanks to Topher's blog yesterday and it truly showcases what a bunch of pathetic sheep 90% of this community is.
Nanbu, I'm still waiting on a meaningful contribution to the community from you beside sheep comments and this blog loving is silly. Until then, your opinion is moot.
Kyousuke Nanbu, do you get any enjoyment from Destructoid or video games in general? It seems that the only thing I've ever seen you post has been something negative. Maybe you need a new hobby that you actually enjoy.
@Justice
LOL at integrity. Honestly, I come to the c-blogs to be entertained. The front page is for all the news. The c-blogs should be for supplemental lulz.
Yeah I come to be entertained too, but I think it's just about finding a balance, sometimes it's just not funny when you see the same thing all the time.
Shortblogs are great if you have great finds (bargains, soundtracks, new lolvideos) or news that hssn't been put out there yet. its content, but admittedly not a great read.
I think it comes up to being basically considerate about the whole community thing.
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!

For Wiisucks:
Hi! My name is Jack Klassen.! I'm a completely ordinary teenage boy from San Diego, California. My interests include soccer, surfing, writing poetry, and luge. I am homeschooled by my father who fought in the Korean War and was exposed to nerve gas. He is kind of crazy but I still love him. We got the Internet two years ago and I started making new friends on Yahoo! messenger. Surprisingly, most of these new friends were older men who wanted to have illegal, underage sex with me. Needless to say, I got a boner like a rocketship and cybersex quickly became my favorite thing in the entire world. Wait, did I say boner like a rocketship? I meant my vagina got as wet as Lake Titicaca. I started saving all of the hot chat sessions I was having with the Pakistanis, lesbians, child molesters and other monsters who were instant messaging me all day and all night, and I decided to put them up here on this website so you can see exactly how disgusting the entire human race is. Since then, I have been in a waterskiing accident that mangled my genitals beyond repair, been diagnosed with cerebral palsy, brain cancer, and Crohn's disease, learned to speak Urdu and French, covered my naked body in superglue, went to French lesbian camp, made a Hindu eat a roast beef sandwich out of my vagina, and ruined perfectly good cybersex for at least one hundred people. Use the menu above to find out more about me and start reading my sexy adventures,

I don't want to be an ass, but seriously y'all.

FUCK IT BE AN ASS!!!!
Someone needs to whip the young ones into shape.
indeed
Your blog is relevant to my interests
LNLZ is the place for one line blogs, but during the day it's a no no.
I donno though, forums are pretty lame. If I wanted to do the forum thing I would just go to NeoGaf.
I think "don't suck" still sums it up pretty well for new people.. even if they suck anyways.
Isn't twitter a one sentence blog delivery system?
I think the main problem is that the forums aren't mentioned/pushed enough for anyone to know or sometimes care about. first
I love me some one sentence blogs
I agree with Char Aznable.
Some oldies around here behave like fucking retards regarding blog posts.
Because I'm such an asshole I'll double post here. In that case I'm way cooler than one sentence blogs writers. Two posts > One sentence

Oh shit, who set blehman off?

I'm not sure this blog is helping.
old
Oh, and all I can say is: ShamWOW!
That's not all you can say.
@ Dan Martiga
Like GamePolitics, too.
WOOT!
I agree with Char. There are quite a lot of members out there that have some kind of "fail immunity" on the cblogs and it doesn't matter what they post. It's confusing sometimes, especially to new users.

I almost want to make a one sentence blog now, just so I can be part of this.
Once sentence comment FAIL, Necros.
VIDEO GAMES!!!!!!!
Generally, I agree. But there are exceptions.
Agreed. One sentence blogs are lame, no matter who does it.
I'm just waiting for the day I have amassed enough D-cred to post a one-liner and not fail.
Wait blehman, aren't you the guy who just posted a blog consisting solely of the lyrics to an MC Frontalot song?
More importantly, aren't you the guy WHO KILLED MY PAW????
you know what perpetuates this trend:
SHORTBLOG!
As if stating it in the title means its okay for Cblogs.
Get Em Youngblood!!!
This blog is honestly so true, it might be funny to some but it weakens the integrity of the cblogs (WiiSucks anyone?). More quality content please!
Seeing people throw shit-fits over these silly blogs will never cease to amuse me. What's even more hilarious is that this trend started thanks to Topher's blog yesterday and it truly showcases what a bunch of pathetic sheep 90% of this community is.
I for one hope to see more one sentence blogs.
Nanbu, I'm still waiting on a meaningful contribution to the community from you beside sheep comments and this blog loving is silly. Until then, your opinion is moot.

Or like...Xanax or something.
@Justice

i think he just needs to get out of the house once in a while.
The straw that broke the camels back.
Ya know, what Sharpless said is kind of true... I at least try not to write one sentence blogs. It's a waste of space. Hell, I barely write at all.
...not that you're a whiny bitch or anything...
@Sharpless
Yeah I come to be entertained too, but I think it's just about finding a balance, sometimes it's just not funny when you see the same thing all the time.
I would disagree but most of the one sentence blogs are played out memes or drunken slurs that aren't nearly as funny as the poster thinks it will be.
We're self moderated here, so good for you Blehman for trying to raise the bar.
Shortblogs are great if you have great finds (bargains, soundtracks, new lolvideos) or news that hssn't been put out there yet. its content, but admittedly not a great read.
I think it comes up to being basically considerate about the whole community thing.
but whatev. such is the waspsnest
Eat the tomatoes already Blehman.
If you can only summarize your thoughts in one sentence, your thoughts aren't important enough to merit a blog post.
Rule of Funny and Rule of Awesome apply here of course, but it had better be one damn funny/awesome sentence.
Topher did it, so suckas think it's okay.
