Dunno if everyone has seen this new trailer by now
(link) but let me tell you that I'm not that excited about it.
When did all the good ideas evaporate? It seems like the disturbing trend of remakes and bastardizations is in full swing when one of my personal favorite childhood books "Where The Wild Things Are" gets its very own Big Screen debut. Why do we allow this happen when more often than not the resulting film isn't anywhere as good as the original and often only serves to tarnish that cherished memory?
I'll tell you why, because we are all lazy as shit! If more people took it upon themselves to come up with interesting stories to tell and then actually follow through and TELL THEM, we'd all be better off for it.
Just wait until hollywood decides enough time has past that other classics can be bastardized and remade, Gone With The Wind the remake anybody? I'll tell you what I really don't want to see is Dr. Seuss's books in their own 3D CGI amalgamation of imagination.
Can we just come up with some new ideas please and leave the past where it belongs....in the history books.
Also, I hope they don't make a Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs movie.
The way I feel is, why not make a new story that will then be your very own? Unfortunately the real answer is that the book is now very well known and many people who grew up reading it are old enough to have children and take their kids to this film, its a marketing/advertising scheme more than anything. It's a shame that entertainment has come to this.
Ah but those weren't 3D!
Horton was CGI, but I never got around to seeing it. Does it suck too?
@Dexter
Bad news...
MAKE IT HAPPEN.
FUCK!
I read Cheaper by the Dozen. The book about Frank Gilbreth the turn-of-the-century efficiency expert who utilized his studies with a motion picture camera in unnecessary movements vs unavoidable delay in a wide range of areas. He and was able to apply his techniques to his large family including 12 kids.
Stupid Hollywood.

Eh.... too late.
And the book was only 10 sentences long, so to "make the story their own" doesn't take much.
Also, if you're going to judge a film by a trailer, you shouldn't even be watching them.
If you knew, you'd know.
But remember friends, they are still OUR childhoods...
However, the the talk of a neverending story remake pisses me the fuck off.
