Thats right the robots have finally taken over, well, kinda.
Apparently ASIMO the robot that we all laughed mightily at when it
fell down the stairs is now leading an orchestra in Detroit.
Yo-Yo Ma says, "Hi nice to meet you wanna make out robot style?"
My first question is really...who cares? Isn't a robot completely devoid of the emotion thats required to take a normal orchestra on a molto bene crescendo. Thats like saying you wrote a computer program to paint art.... course then Im sure some detractors would argue that ANYTHING is art and can be interpreted as such....well to those people I say NO YOU'RE WRONG!
ROBOTS CAN'T MAKE ART even if they are programed to perfectly mimic the greatest artists of history... they're not true artists.
robots aren't artists they're just copycats
However, so far as making the decisions of style, emotion, evaluation of personnel, and embuing the orchestra with the necessary focus and passion while learning and rehearsing a piece, no robot anytime soon will be able to pull that off.
Great Great Grandkid's robots though? Maybe . . .

If we can program a robot to conduct an orchestra, I would say it could be a form of art, but the artist was the programmer, not the robot.
