Gears of War 2 -Coop Mode
bleep | 1:47 PM on 11.17.2008 9 comments

Last night I finished the co-op campaign on the Epic title Gears of War 2 and I have to say it was quite a wild ride.

The challenge with most co-op games I've played is making sure there is enough for both the players to do simultaneously throughout the game. This was something Gears2 had no difficulty doing with many challenges having one player manning large weaponry while the other responsible for the perfunctory hitting of switches etc. At times though the most challenging tasks weren't related the A.I. or the enemies but the communication going on with the person sitting right next to you. Obstacles that require coordinated moves for instance seemed to give my friend and I a lot of difficulty. Even after talking about what needed to be done we ended up doing something that lead to our untimely demise yet again.

So all in all I give the co-op mode of Gears of War 2 a hearty four thumbs up! For a interesting story-line, stunning character design (some of the bosses in the game look amazing), decent gameplay and the Soundtrack was good too!

While I liked the voice-over acting done in the game, at times I thought there was just too much of it that seemed the same making the characters seem somewhat one dimensional. Though I'm sure my take is skewed due to the fact that the number of cut scenes in this game (there are a ton of them) made the plot less like a video game and more like a movie experience.

I was a bit surprised that the game ended where and when it did. But now Im just gonna have to go back and play it on Insane difficulty mode!

these monsters were CRAZY

Will you be my Insane co-op partner? I just finished the game on Hardcore this morning, and would like to play through with a friend on Insane.

Sounds like fun. I've been so busy with the amazingly epic horde mode, I have barely even touched the story mode.
