I CAN HAS NEW PC?

Holy crap! Yes, old PC got owned and therefore yesterday was the birth of Mr Bubbles, my new PC! So that means one thing - Team Fortress 2. Yeah baby, when I get some spare cash I'm shoving TF2 onto this thing and getting ready for some epic luls etc etc. Mikey I'm looking at you.

So why am I making a blog? Well, it's not a great PC.. it was cheap and I will upgrade the card and RAM (charlie? Phist?) at some point in the future. For now I shall write down the basic spec and you guys can tell me what are my must haves PC wise. I am sure someone will convince me to overclock it eventually.

Spec
2.66ghz Intel Core 2 Duo E8200 Dual Core
2GB DDR2 667MHz
250GB SATA II
NVIDIA 8500GT 512MB PCI-E Graphics

So being that my brother was more of the PC gamer than I ever was I am all excited about what are my must haves. My steam is open and I already obviously have;

Counter Strike (not source)
Portal
Team Fortress 2 (when I have the cash)
Audiosurf (also when I have the cash)
Command & Conquer 3

What else do I need? What are you dtoiders playing? Can I has happy :D As always check the right hand bar for my steam id and send me a friend invite :-D

That's more than good enough to run most stuff, lady! I'd ask about your full memory specs, what mobo you got, etc but I don't know if you're even the vaguest bit interested! =)

I had to give up TF2 for a while as it was sucking away my nights.

Add a 8800 to that and you'll be set for almost anything that's out right now and that will be out in the foreseeable future.

Audiosurf (GET THIS!)
Fallout (retro crpg goodness)
The Witcher (modern crpg goodness)

You need to get AudioSurf!!! It's only 10 bucks and you could win at least one of the games you want by beating other dtoiders highscores.

that sounds like a pretty solid PC. Don't worry about upgrading RAM, a 32-bit opersating system can't use more than 3GB anyways (an that includes the video RAM). The e8200 i9s a sweet CPU and overclocking that would be very easy.

Also, once I get World in Conflict running again you need to join us.

Or another person to participate in our epic Rock-Paper-Scissors matches? Spy vs. Spy was classic on Tuesday. My favorite moment was when I was disguised as a red spy and stabbed an actual red spy, showing off to my blue spy compatriot, who was actually a red spy in disguise and who stabbed me immediately following.

It almost topped the time when I jumped on the heavy's head as a scout, while his medic healer looked on and was like "dude you got a scout on your head." He was too late, another death-by-sawed-off.

If you like RTS games you can't go wrong with Company Of Heroes, the original and expansion come packaged together on Steam for a totally reasonable price.

If my Laptop were powerful enough to run such games i would gladly join you in my rampage across the world of Team Fortress 2. As i dance around the maps as the heavy with my large roatating phailic obj... err... minigun.

As for the PC it looks awwwwrite. But as you say upgrade the graphics card to something a bit beefier.

I'm getting back into my PC gaming after a long stint with a 360, I'm trying lots of rts games for the first time and really enjoying them. I've never given the genre the time of day before, but I suggest trying Starcraft/Warcraft 3, or for something more modern you can get Dawn of war and the first two expansions for �12 everywhere. Company of heroes gold is great value too.

Also, if you want to get more into the hardware side of things, I recommend (praying to the gods of bbcode) Custom PC Magazine. I've been getting it since the first issue and its taught me loads - more than my job as an IT Support.

If you want to upgrade the card in the future on the cheap, I have an XFX 9600gt, which cost about �120, and its surpassed my expectations completely. My advice is to only ever buy midrange cards. The top of the range stuff will often still struggle with the latest releases, and they're quickly superceded and lose all value. You're better off buying midrange cards for half the price, twice as often.
