No.
I use the Destructoid site for the following:
1. community. A place to meet other gamers, talk about games and to find fun people to game online with.
2. writing. I like to write, I like to write about gaming.
3. reading. I like to keep up with current info on gaming, with opinion pieces, with previews, reviews, etc.
How?
The main page articles, the c-blogs. Occasionally the forums and even the chat/irc.
Why?
Because I love gaming. It keeps me involved and again, to comes back to the sense of community.
If you honestly need to post a cblog to gather information about Dtoid then you're not researchong very well.
Also, showing complete disregard for Destructoid's policies as apparent in that last sentence probably isn't going to go over kindly with most people.
*researching
Could be she just didn't want to misrepresent the Community.
I use it to keep myself informed, share opinions with people of common interests and on occasion as a soapbox to promote my viewpoint or a game I feel needs some attention.
Where else am I going to entice little boys into my van?
Also, would anyone like some candy?
I was going to say "I use Destructoid to pick up chicks", but then I thought she might take me seriously and actually use that in her report.
I was just wondering today where you've been. You posted an awesome intro blog and then just disappeared. It makes stalking you rather difficult.
Anyway, I use it to learn the vidjya gaem news obviously, and for socialization with hilarious and awesome people.
And for stalking you.
Thanks for the feedback people!(well some of you could be less rude but hey it's the internet!) This is really helpful!
I use Destructoid for meeting friends online and at NARPS.
How? IRC.
Why? Cause they have the same interests as me and are the nicest people in the world (for the most part)
I honestly wasn't trying to be rude, I was trying to be funny.
That's one of the big reasons I come here. It's just a big group of people with similar senses of humor, tastes in games, and, as I've tried to show with dTunes, similar tastes in music. It's a place where no matter what your views are on anything, you are accepted for who you are.
I love you guys.
What Ronburg said.
I come here to get game news with some personality and to be part of a fantastic community. In fact I believe it to be among, if not the single best community to be found on all of the internet. And we're all absolutely twisted.
listen to teh podtoidz.
And also do not put the motto o' the site in your blog post.
also WHY are you doing a report on a gaming site for a project in college? Shouldn't you guys go help cure cancer?
I usually just come here for the news and the flavor of the site in general. I love the community but I'm not very involved with it. If I was I guess I'd be cool.
I come here for awesome Facebook Games walktroughs!
Well Volgin13 I'm a communications student, which in my opinion is the best degree ever, so I get to write about whats going on today in popular cultur or any subculture (this assignment is about online communities and whatnot) or anything really as long as it sounds interesting. So I guess I could write about curing cancer but that is a lot of science and would involve some bullshitting I'm just not capable of, haha o well I guess.
I visit Destructoid because it's the only place I've ever felt a true connection to the other users. The sense of community that has been instilled is something that is pretty hard to replicate on the internet were people normally hide behind an anonymous avatar. I mean just look at the responses so far. We are a welcoming group but at the same time vicious if we feel like someone is threatening or misrepresenting our community. They don't do it because they personally hate you but because they love this place so much. Just watch when someone actually starts trolling this site. They never stand a chance and it hilarious to watch it all unfold.
Being able to connect and have intelligent conversations with people online is what draws me in. It's like a giant book club for video games, but that happens mostly in the C-Blogs and Forums where the avatarless do not tread. There's a rule here that you can save yourself a lot of facepalming if you skip over anyone who does not have an avatar. But the quality writing from the users we have here is astounding. The artistic talent of so many people here make me jealous as well. While I do read the news articles, a lot actually, I do it more to see other people's opinions on the subjects rather than just the straight up facts. You can learn a lot by listening to other people. Also having the staff allowed to voice their opinions is awesome. Sure not everyone will agree with them but there's not many place where an editor will punch a games developer for sending them a crappy game:
Friday Night Fights is also another highlight here, which is a community game night. You can never be bored on a Friday night. Playing with people from around the world who you interact with everyday through the site is pretty cool.
I'm here also for the LOLs if you haven't noticed. A sense of humour is not something that this community is missing. Just make sure your sarcasm-meter is fully functioning to save yourself a lot of awkward moments. The staff definitely know how to tickle the funny bone.
Best thing to do is just type in PAX in the C-Blog Search. That is probably the best representation of Destructoid you'll find.
Destructoid is usually the first site I visit when I do compoopering, always. I'm not the most well known on Dtoid, nor am I even friends with practically anyone on here, but I do love them all, if that makes any sense. I value their opinion on this wonderful hobby that we share(and even on practically everything else outside of gaming), and the sense of a community that we have here is unparalleled to the hundreds of other communities I was a part of since I started using the internet a decade ago.
Uh, I'm not gonna get raped am I? Because that would be totally AWESOME. If so, then I will let you have your way with me.
Also, I better get paid for this. Oh, and you have to cover my medical bills if I get super herpes, again.
Everything that CelicaCrazed said, plus, Dtoid have the best editors and writers of all gaming sites.
@ MrSadistic
Can i rape you?
I originally joined just to post comments on blog articles, read gaming news and my one friend was also a member. Now I stay because I love this community and I love talking about video games with people. I really like the idea of the Cblogs and how I can post my ideas. It helps me with my writing too, I find out from others what I need to improve on, which is helpful for my academic papers in school. Also Friday Night Fights, is the best fucking idea I have ever herd of. Thanks to online gaming (which I didnt get into until this gen) I can talk to Dtoid members online while where playing some of our fav games. Its also nice to put a voice and a personality to the avatar. In short, Dtoid is a great community and I'm really proud that Im a member. One day hopefully at some kind of games convention Ill get to meet some members, that would be great.
@RonBurgandy2010
For whatever reason I pretty much stalk this site all day and everyone on it. They just have too many interesting things to say about a topic I happen to love.
I'm in the forums, the front page, the cblogs, twitter, even the friggin' feedback page. I may not be as close of friends with them as others on this site but I hold the opinions every editor and regular on this site with the highest regard.
Yep, back to the forums to talk about zombies.
