I think I'm going to do some unoriginal stuff like...


Make a Starcraft Kerriganish, bipedal humanoid with extra blade arms.

A spider that looks sorta like the one from Evangelion.

Might as well make a Keroro and a Gloomy Bearish one in the process too!


Also make some hideous creature from hell type monstrosities! Woot!

After reading the recent SNK PLAYMORE articles. I thought about my interest level in fighting games. I came of with this personal list after much thought.

I loved KOF 98-99. Enjoyed 2k. However, 2001 and 2002 killed the KOF interest in me.

Many of the new character designs and all character illustrations in the games were pretty awful. As with the messy unpolished feel of the game's set up (not the actual fighting mechanics, I'm not hardcore enough to have much of a say there). It seemed like they had no clue what they actually wanted to do.

In my heart, I always blamed it on Playmore. They ruined KOF for me and made Metal Slug 4 a backward step from Metal Slug 3. I'm not sure if my blame is misdirected but I wasn't happy with what happened to those series after the jump.


To be fair, I haven't played a KOF game since 2002. And am not sure if they finally got everything down to the level of other fighting games. I just didn't care for the series enough .

Hopefully XII will rekindle my heart for KOF, and deliver as much as every other AAA fighting game, if not more. But I remain skeptical if the game can deliver as a whole.



-I have a couple questions for other KOF fans.

Did I miss out on any superb KOF in the years of 2003-2007? If so which would you recommend?

Is Playmore really to blame or am I just being unreasonable?

And how would you rank KOFXII in your fighting game anticipation list?

Okay so some people thought this was too short for a blog.

I thought the over the top sensationalist news broadcast was oddly familiar.

I am not a news watcher as of recent disappointments so I thought it was a parody of news in general.

However, the name WEASEL, had a familiar ring to it. The only broadcast station with a animal name in it is FOX. Hence the connection.

I'm not sure if this is due to the gaming is dangerous bullshit that FOX NEWS created or not, but I found it at the level of FOXTOID. Very relevant and humorous!

I thought anyone who played GTA4 would agree and be amused by it.

Either I was wrong or those two didn't play GTA4.

This year seems to be BURNING for a fighting game REVIVAL!

U.S. parents are more concerned over sexual content than violence in videogames?

This is probably not surprising to anyone living in the U.S.

The film media has been cranking out ultra-violent content to such an extreme that any retail videogame would pale in comparison (i.e. Saw vs Man Hunt). Several music genres glorify violence in their lyrics, music videos, and concerts.

But looking at those statistics, calling sexual content more offensive is probably a stretch. If there is something Americans love other than violence, it would be sexual content. Similar to violent content, movies and music has always glorified sex in American pop culture.

I believe the reason why parents allow more violent content over sexual content is due to its availability of mimicry. Kids find violence fascinating and over the top, something that doesn't feel intimately real but more resembling cartoon violence. Sexual content is more easily mimicked especially if there is any in-game interaction involved. Though some cultures have an openness to sexuality, I think American culture has a stronger duality to this aspect than violence.

What is really sad is that they find Gay kissing offensive at a similar level as a severed head. I doubt that heterosexual kissing would be found as offensive to these same people. I don't believe they would think that kids would mimic such behavior. I think they are personally offended by the action more than anything.



How does this affect a gamer?

I would rather like people to be offended by sex than violence. This is due to the fact that games are more fun with violence, but sexual content isn't necessary (at least for me).
