The Greatest News Story in the World (NVGR)
Aerox | 1:31 PM on 09.24.2008 23 comments

I'm not providing any commentary, aside from pointing out the terrible writing style (You don't need to say "The Baltimore Examiner reported" three times fuckers) because it speaks for itself. Enjoy.

Man Goes to Court After Butt Stapled Shut
Patient claims he couldn't defecate for 17 days

BALTIMORE - A West Virginia man is suing a Frederick County, Md., doctor for allegedly stapling his rectum shut during an operation, preventing the patient from defecating for 17 days, The Baltimore Examiner reported.

The mistake allegedly took place when Ronald Watkins, 64, had surgery for a rectal tumor, according to his lawsuit.

Dr. Manuel Casiano's lawyer said Watkins' bowels merely became "swollen shut," The Baltimore Examiner reported.

Since the surgery, Watkins experiences "rectal discharge" and must wipe 12 to 15 times a day, and he has had other procedures that otherwise would have been unnecessary, according to his attorneys.

The defense said Watkins' smoking two packs a day contributed to his bowel problems, The Baltimore Examiner reported.

Dinner and Drinking the Thursday Before PAX - TABLES ARE FILLING FAST
Aerox | 1:09 PM on 08.06.2008 16 comments

Sorry to whore this again, but tables for dinner the Thursday before PAX are going FAST. Word on the street is that 4 person tables aren’t even available anymore at certain times, so I’m reposting the link to this just to make sure everyone who wants to go gets a chance to. There will be nothing sadder than you getting in early on Thursday for PAX and then abandoned as the rest of us roll out to dinner. Especially now that Furniss has clarified that his party is going to be small and invite only.

DINNER DETAILS & SIGNUP

In a nutshell, a huge group of us are going out to dinner at FareStart around 6:00-6:30ish. After dinner, we’re going out drinking at The Redwood. All the links and restaurant information & reviews is in the blog linked above. If you have any interest in coming, you need to act NOW and get a reservation for dinner. If you don’t want/can’t do dinner, let us know if you’re interested in coming to the bar afterwards. Please reply in the original blog post that's linked above; it's easier to sort stuff out if it's all in one place.

See everyone there!

Looking for something to do the Thursday before PAX?
Aerox | 3:57 PM on 08.05.2008 53 comments

This is for everyone who is getting into Seattle on Thursday before PAX starts and doesn't have plans yet.

We found this awesome restaurant and figured that I would let you guys know about it if you don't have plans for the Thursday night before PAX yet. If you're not going to PAX, sorry I'm spamming you with this.

So, there is a restaurant in Seattle called FareStart. Normally it is open only for lunch, and the idea behind the restaurant is that it takes homeless people and provides them with job training at a relatively high end restaurant so that they can enter the working world. On Thursdays they do a guest chef night where a prominent chef from the restaurant community comes in and does a 3 course dinner. While that sounds sketchy, the food is supposed to be amazing. It's also within walking distance of most of the hotels we're all staying at (6 blocks from the Sheraton at least).

So far we have 2 tables with reservations for 6:15 on Thursday night. If you guys don't have any plans, you should totally come eat with us. It is tasty, socially conscious, and pretty damn cheap. The full 3 course meal is only $25 (not including booze), and 100% of the proceeds go to the program.

The menu for that night is here:
http://www.farestart.org/restaurant/guestchef/calendar/EarthandOcean_Menu.html

Reviews of the restuarant are here:
http://www.yelp.com/biz/farestart-seattle#hrid:wQlU96jWiBQNu0n8KNVMaA/query:restaurants

Unfortunately, you need to make your own reservation. They're changeable, so if you can get even one more person, just make the reservation and then add people later. Any tables larger than 4 people are already gone, so the max you can have at a table is 4. Do it quickly, because these Guest Chef Nights fill up pretty fast. Once we get there we can see if we can just all be seated next to each other. If not, I plan on flinging bread at Dexter from across the restaurant.

Make reservations here:
http://export.opentable.com/opentables.aspx?t=Rest&r=12331&f=&q=&m=2&p=2&d=8/28/2008+6%3A00%3A00+PM

Finally, the suggested attire is business casual. Nothing fancy.

Double Date Table:

Fun Sexy Time Table (Whites Only):

GOD SAVE THE QUEEN Table (ONE SPOT OPEN):

The GHost (Yay he's back from Africa!!!!)
Chooly CHOOLY IS LAME. THERE IS ONE OPEN SPOT LEFT.
Mystery Friend

Nihon Is Going to Make Nintendoll Dress Up As Cammy Table:
NihonTiger

Kung Fu Panda Dreamworks Extravaganza Table:

Afterwards, the plan is to head out to a nice, cheap bar called The Redwood and get really drunk.
The Redwood

If you can't make it to dinner, you should definitely come out for drinks with us. It's going to be EPIC.

Start PAX off right. Come hang out with us.

25% off at EBay
Aerox | 12:06 AM on 06.23.2008 19 comments

Since I'm posting this so late at night, I'll probably repost for the benefit of people tomorrow morning. However, if you're up now, you should take advantage of this.

Currently, Microsoft and EBay have a deal going on. If you go to live.com and type in something generic into their search engine ("watch" works), one of the first results that will pop up will be an ad for Ebay, and you'll notice a little button that says "Live Search Cashback"

Click on that, and you'll go to eBay, but you'll now notice that there's a special tag at the top of the page that says "Microsoft Cashback: 25% off".

(UPDATE 2: The percentage you get off is tied to whatever search term you use at www.live.com. Typing in "SNES" got me 25%. It might change though, so play around until you get a % you like. )

For the next 60 minutes, anything you buy on Ebay with Buy It Now, Microsoft will give you back the % discount straight into your paypal account shortly after your purchase. It's that easy!

This is great for a lot of video game stuff that has the buy it now; it's basically just a free discount. Some unscrupulous people have set up little schemes, like one guy sold his brother a $999 fan and they pocketed the discount, but that's probably illegal so I don't advocate anyone doing that.

If you're looking for cheap games though, this is a great deal.

You can read the official terms here.
