This is something I have noticed for a while but with the recent release of BlazBlue and more specifically, the character Hakumen in it I felt compelled to share this with my fellow D-toiders.

THE PROTOTYPE ARMOR AND THE GUY FROM DARK SECTOR ARE THE EXACT SAME GODDAMN THING!

Prototype Armor

Dark Sector Guy

Now that just looks like blatant copying, these next two look similar but at least slightly different.

Hakumen from BlazBlue (Hair!?! This one is probably the furthest stretch actually, I think the resemblance is mainly in the faceless mask like in the above two.)

Herald of Xotli from Age of Conan (Mainly a difference in the head, it has dranei-like tentacles)

I just thought that this was an odd thing that four characters, all from separate games all look extremely similar, and I was just wondering if anyone else here at Destructoid had noticed odd phenomenon. I don't have a problem with this sort of design being used so much because honestly, its pretty cool looking. I think the aesthetic aim of this look is to have a fully streamlined metal body; like armor but smooth and not nearly as heavy or bulky, thus giving you the feeling of protection without sacrificing much mobility.

also dark sector was underrated

Yes the famous endless
countdown has actually... ended! It ends on a rather flat note too, All that is currently up on Kojima's "E3 2009 SPECIAL SITE" is a crummy looking wall that has a picture of metal gear solid rising and a link to the mask website on it. The only hints that I can see are flowers, a bit of grain (most likely from the field) , cut marks on the wall, and the word "RESISTANCE" painted on it.

IS KOJIMA TEAMING UP WITH INSOMNIAC TO MAKE A ZEN GAME ABOUT WOLVERINE. Yes.

But in all seriousness, those cuts most likely have to do with Raiden (or Vamp) and the flowers with ending the rain, and "RESISTANCE"... I don't know. However It looks like there's quite a bit of space left on the wall and it lets you slide to the right a bit. Perhaps Kojima has something up his sleeve for the Sony press conference, we'll just have to wait and see.

UPDATE: The mask is up and looking creepy as hell.

TADA!
The energy sword from the Halo series. Same process as the key blade, but I thought I'd clear some stuff up.
1. We can only work in two dimensions aside from sanding.
2. It's not really a woodshop class per se, but one of those weird "Technology" classes (I'm in 9th grade -_-). We switch between modules every week, and one of them happened to be wood. I'm out of it now, so sadly there won't be any more video game wood projects.
3. I HAVE NO PAINT AND AM POOR. But assured that if I somehow DO come across some paint and paint these projects, I'll be sure to blog it

There is also a sad story behind this. One of my friends actually hated it and said it was gay (he's not a gamer), and decided to sweep it off of the lunch table, thus breaking it. Luckily one of my other friends offered to fix it, and I'd say he did a pretty damn good job. Also 3 people thought it was the batmobile... I have no idea...
ANYWAYS,

What do you think?

I made a keyblade in my woodshop class today. It's about a foot long and I made it with just a plank of wood, a bandsaw, and a sander. It only took about 30 minutes but I'm pretty happy with it.. Everyone thought it was just a key though -_-. I made another video game related item the other day but you'll have to wait till tomorrow until that masterpiece is unveiled. Anyways, I just thought I'd share this and see what you guys thought.

I sort of missed out on the good games from the ps2 era, so when i got a ps3 I decided to get a bunch of the great games i missed out on. I had the money so why not? I went to gamestop.com and they had some pretty good deals on ps2 games, however none of them were new(except one). I didn't think it would matter since i bought some used ps3 games off of ebay and they were beautiful (essentially mint!). Boy was I wrong. I bought 7 games:

We Love Katamari
Metal Gear Solid: Essential Collection (new)
Ratchet and Clank
Killer 7
Viewtiful Joe
Shadow of the Colossus
Resident Evil 4

I got them all but i hadn't looked inside yet because i was still finishing GTAIV. Last night I beat GTAIV so today i figured i'd play one of the ps2 games. I opened up ratchet and clank, The disc is loose, completely scratched up, and there is no manual. awesome....

But that's not even the best part! I then go to look in Resident Evil 4, SURPRISE!!! IT'S NOT EVEN FUCKING IN THERE!

Fuck Gamestop.
