The Mushihimesama Collection
Zoel | 9:57 PM on 02.09.2009 15 comments

Let see, seeing my good friend Funktastic posting his collections on Destructoid, I have decided to post a blog on a game collection of mine based on Mushihimesama. (Of course he called me a f****** moron for buying this, but that won't stop me. ) Anyways because I like the first Mushihimesama quite alot, I have decided that no matter what, I must play the sequel. But when I heard its arcade only, I have forced myself to get a Candy Cab and brought the Arcade PCB board just to play the game. Also trying to collect much merchandise of this series as much as possible.

Brief History Lesson
--------------------
Mushihimesama (literally , "Insect Princess") is an arcade shmup game made by Cave way back in 2003 and a sequel was followed in 2006 (Mushihimesama Futari). The series is quite popular overseas and carries a strong insect theme (Sorta like Darius with fishes).
-------------------

A preview video for the first 2 levels. (This video belongs to TerryFuckwitt)

Mushihimesama (limited edition) for PS2. (Includes a Figurine "Child Reco & Kiniro")

Mushihimesama Futari Black Label (This cost me around 1500$ CAD)

And a photo of the game running on my Candy Cab.

Mushimesama Original Soundtrack (Includes a figurine "Adult Reco")

Brand New Mushihimesama Futari Original Soundtrack (There's suppose to be an art book and a key chain inside, but since I haven't open this , I can't confirm this)

(Still have an Arcana Hearts 2 poster. *** I Can give you the Arcana Hearts 2 Poster for free if you live in Calgary , since i don't really want it.)

a 40 x 27 (Inch) Poster of Mushihimesama Futari

a 27 x 40 (Inch) Poster of Mushihimesama Futari Black Label.

and as of Feb 28, I have acquire the Insanity DVD "Mushihimesama The Secret Lover"
(Man it looks like a hentai if you didn't know what the content is)

I also got the Max Factory Reco Figurine preordered, but since its not out till June, the product isn't really on my hands. But this is what it looks like.

Items needed
----------------
Mushihimesama Poster
Mushihimesama Futari 1.5
Mushihimesama INF 1/4 Scale Resin Kit (SECRET LOVER TYPE)
Mushihimesama INF 1/7 Scale Resin Kit
Mushihime TAMA

I am not exactly rich either, so I do not have an entire collection yet. But surely and slowly I will eventally collect every piece of Mushihimesama merchandise that exist on earth.

PS. If you're an Persona fan please check out my guide on Persona 4 on gamefaqs and leave me a feedback.

Spiffy mang.

Oh and wow you're the one who did that P4 walkthrough huh? I used it a few times, especially when trying to get the True Ending. Much obliged.
Diverse's Destructoid Blog
Wow, very nice collection. Much respect to you and live on with the collector's spirit!

Also, what's that Candy Cab thing? I've never heard of it.
Zoel's Destructoid Blog
Candy Cab is a japanese arcade cabinet (Sit down type), its a nick name made back in the Neo Geo days.
garison's Destructoid Blog
That was your faq? I use that all the time :)

That is such an awesome collection of stuff. $1500 for ONE GAME? I'm so jealous.

Is there any way I could play this game on the cheap? I love shmups, but I don't have that kind of money laying aroud.

And I'm with Diverse on this one. What is a Candy Cab? I'm assuming that it is some kind of customizable arcade machine?
Diverse's Destructoid Blog
Oh that's cool, must have set you back a lot just for the cabinet right?(without the PCB)

Looks cool. I've never heard of this before, but thanks for bringing it to my attention. Also, great C-Blog entry. :)
seigfreid's Destructoid Blog
Wow, I really want this game, but its so much money :( Do you know if there are any cheap versions available?
seigfreid's Destructoid Blog
another question, where would I be able to buy a candy cab? I'm looking online and I am having trouble
Zoel's Destructoid Blog
Hmm, there's really no cheap solution available, the game MIGHT be release for 360 a year or 2 from now (That'll be import only). Also getting Mushihimesama Futari 1.5 ( A previous version of the game) is around 800$ USD. The first game can be found for Ps2 on ebay for like 100$ to 120$ depending on what edition you're getting. But to play the sequel, you'll have to shell out some money to play it or find it in your local arcade.

Candy Cabs can be imported from websites with a ridculous shipping fee, the best way to find them is go for auctions and forums.
seigfreid's Destructoid Blog
How did you get yours, any particular forums or websites? I might be able to get one over the summer.
Funktastic's Destructoid Blog
Goddammit Zoel! Why the hell didn't you tell me about this before posting you jerkface! =P Just clicked the blog, then see in the top right for your profile you live in Calgary. So, I'm like "Cool! Another Calgarian!" Then I read the blog and it was you . . . -_-' Hahaha!

@Garison
Now you have even more incentive to visit Calgary, lol.
Zoel's Destructoid Blog
@Seigfreid

Well I went to several forums and apparently there was someone selling a Cab that was near my location.

This person sold at lot of Cabs before for a fair price. Maybe you can discuss about it.

Coinopexpress is located in Hong Kong so they have a really expensive shipping.

There's a lot more then that. But I hope that helps.
garison's Destructoid Blog
@Funktastik, Maybe I'll come down in the summer or something :) We could have a mini NARP!
BulletMagnet's Destructoid Blog
Hmm, someone else who actually knows what Mushihime-sama is.

Pardon me while I Friend you.

I'm not quite hardcore enough to get myself a cab, but I do own the PS2 port of this game - one of my favorite shmups. And good God am I hoping against hope for a 360 port of Futari - with Black Label as DLC.
seigfreid's Destructoid Blog
Thanks that was really helpful
