About Me
Hey :] Call me Zippy :]

I have been told I'm an odd fellow, which is nice :) Loving Dtoid, been here for nearly a year now and I'm so glad I found a real community :D I feel more welcomed here than I have anywhere else.

I love all games new and old hence why I still have and play on my Spectrum, SNES, N64, PS1,2, Gameboy and more. I also have the rest of the N64/SNES games that I don't have in Physical form in Emulation form. I play PC a lot too. Check out Mame32 for a lot of classic very old arcade games.

On PC I mainly play TF2, GTA and L4D1/2. On PS3 I mainly play Killzone 2, Street Fighter 4, Mirrors Edge, Little Big Planet and a load more. Plus a lot of mini games, I play those a lot too.

I've currently just finished studying a BTEC in Game, Art and Media Design and now enjoying my holiday.

What I am playing at the moment (Steam ID: The_End21 or |LZ| Zippy):
Team Fortress 2, Worms: Reloaded

PSN: Gladiator_21

What I am reading at the moment:
Bill Hicks: Love All The People (a foreword)

What I am watching at the moment:
A lot of films.

What I am listening to at the moment:
Shpongle, The Knife and Felt.

My favourite games/series of all time:
Too many games to list, I have that list saved though.

Why Killzone 2 has changed a lot
Zippyduda | 4:52 PM on 06.13.2009 40 comments

in the last 1-3 weeks. The reason being is because of updates. For those not in the loop what happened is;

1) the Air Support was made "better" by improving how much damage it did.
2) the Assault class was made weaker

Now by all means the Assault update was a welcome change (even if they are still a bit overpowered and can take a rocket to the face). But it's fine now anyway.

My peeves with the game are how it's managed to get worse. The magnum pistol is just ridiculous. I don't care if it's extremely powerful in real life it shouldn't take one shot to kill you. A Desert Eagle doesn't do that and neither does shooting an enemy with a rocket either sometimes. It seriously needs to be taken down a notch IMHO.

Now onto the Air Support. This has pretty much turned the AI based Air Support into Call of Duty 4's helicopter, which sucked big hairy balls and everyone knows it. I was happy with it before. It got kills fine and is now a pain in the ass. I understand in real life air support would be a nasty thing to have and really would hurt people the way it does, but this game is far from reality and shouldn't have ever been upgraded and should stop being like Call of Duty (I know that's not what they were aiming for anyway), but they are doing it unintentionally.

My next issue is turrets. I think they are underpowered. They are taken out with the slightest of ease and don't do any damage. It takes donkey''s years to get a kill with them and even the most inept player can just avoid dying from them. I can as well but its the fact it has no punch behind it. Turrets should be able to swing the tide of the battle I think.

Spot and Mark. I haven't had the chance to play around with this feature yet but it is a ability for the Scout (Sniper) which allows them to see every (or most I believe) enemy on the battlefield and mark them with a blue cross-hair. Now this sounds extremely biased considering they can detect targets behind buildings or huts. I could understand if it used some sort of radar but no, it's just pure BS. What I don't get is how I constantly manage to sneak up to Scout's and take them out, without them once turning round or seeing me approach from the side or even nearly in front of them/behind a hut with this ability on?

By all means, I love Killzone 2, virtually everything is balanced well, the gameplay is fun, the mayhem is a laugh and the graphics are great. I'm usually not one for complaining about games and I normally see great things but today I especially noticed how much it's changed the game for the worse (and I'm playing good as well), I just think they've suddenly unbalanced the game.

I wouldn't be surprised if I was slaughtered (especially by Jim, unless he agrees) for this post, but it's what I honestly believe. Does anyone agree on any of these points?

P.S.
Oh, another point I would like to make is I've never understood why the engineer only gets a Shotgun, it's just stupid. It makes it an extremely hard class sometimes when trying to place turrets. At least offer a SMG or the team specific rifle (so you would have to have the Helghan or ISA gun depending what team you spawned, no option).

P.P.S
I actually didn't take inspiration from Edgy's Wii article I just got sick of all these "bugs" in Killzone today whilst I was playing.

P.P.S
I believe this is my first rant as well. :/ Somebody called weedus has now got a blue red effect avatar (forgot the name).

I don't actually have KZ2 , but by the concept of the Assault alone : the Assault has teh ability to run faster than the other classes , has more health than the other classes and uses the most powerfull weapons , like a Bazooka ...
How is that thing slightly balanced?

I've only just started playing Killzone 2, and apart from one game yesterday where every time I went round the corner from the spawn point my entire team and I got shot by a far away sniper, its been pretty darn good!

I can't vouch for the turret thing, because I can put whole magazines into those things without them going down (same with bots, they seem to be invincible!) and the rest of it... well I have no idea! I'm still at the beginning of the online game, so i'm stuck with basic assault rifles and only the medic class to wrap around.

Oh I missed a point about the spawn point grenades, I'll just put it in here.

They've ruined spawning but taking out the temporary invulnerability. It makes it possible for enemies to sit around waiting at spawn grenades and either melee as soon as you come out or keep their gun focused on it so you die when you spawn. Or they put C4's next to it, teh possibiliteies are numerous, and it's bullshit.

Also, the fact that not many people know how to use spawn grenades at all. Half the games nobody uses them and if they do soemtimes they are in the worst places or in packed areas, its just awful.

@Naim, well not many people use it because they know it's cheap so it doesn't matter. Considering how many people/noobs there are people only really use it to get the medals and badges etc. and then leave it.

Add in the fact that they technically have the worst weapons on the game (the Rocket) not many people use it. The reason being is because the Rocket only has 3 bullets, and the Grenade launcher isn't very effective really, hence why nobody uses them often.

Also the Assault class health was downgraded(if you'd read it properly) so it's fine now, every class has to have a slight perk/advantage to it.

@Sandwich, oh don't get me wrong, I love the game tremendously, I just think there are issues that need fixing. By the way, the medic I think is the best class so far (until I get the sniper), as being able to use medi packs on yourself in the middle of battle as well as for your other team mates and yourself whenever is extremely helpful. I also combine it with the Assault class boost ability so I can run a lot faster. I've escaped a lot of situations by being a medic or a medic combined with boost.

Also being able to heal your teammates is great especially when you heal someone who wins an objective or kills someone etc.

Actually, I loved calling in a helicopter in CoD4.

Balls being sucked never entered my mind once whilst playing it.

You can use medi-packs in the middle of battle?! I didn't even know that! I've been playing medic for a few days now and I cant believe I didn't figure that out.

I enjoy playing this class with all its helpful abilities, but I didn't know it was this deep. I don't even know what you mean by "combine it with a boost ability" yet, but i'm sure i'll find out in time. It'll give me a lot more leeway for using strategy on the battlefield now anyway, and maybe avoid the many 'heal someone, die, repeat' situations i've been in!

:) @Eternal, yeah I did as well and of course it's good if you have it. You get a ton of kills, it's just WAY to overpowered.

The amount of times I've been killed THROUGH walls, rooftops and general honest to god impossible/bullshit shots is ridiculous. Not to mention the fact they follow you everywhere.

It's kind of the opposite with COD:WaW's dogs as everybody hates them, but they never bother me and if they they're easy to kill. Obviously a chopper/machine/bot is different from a dog but you know what I mean.

Im with EternalDeathSlayer.

If your team lets 1 player get 7 kills in row you deserve a helicopter shooting at you.

But everything else you wrote is good. I tried Kz2 at a friends house, and the assualt was the thing to be if you wanted to get kills.

There is nothing wrong with Killzone 2, There is/was nothing wrong with the helicopter in COD4. There IS something wrong with the dogs in COD5. But hey, even though I don't really like them I suck it up and try to be better. That's all there is to it.

What I don't like is that everybody is complaining about certain things in a game like with Killzone 2. Guerrilla Games go out of their way to change it. But what do they get? People complaining about the things they've just changed. Hallelujah we're back to square one. Killzone 2 is a great game, if not a superb game. There might be things you don't like but that doesn't mean it has gone down the shitter. If you stop playing this game (that's what you're implying by using those words) then you'd better stop playing games altogether.

And about people not knowing how to use the spawngrenades. That's true, but what does that have to do with the game itself? People are idiots, assholes and whatnot. It's not Guerrilla Games' fault that 90% of the online gamers are mentally retarded. And maybe you just have to look at your damn map before selecting one when re-spawning. It's not that hard. Just don't select the ones that are in a fucked up position.

Or just play with Dtoiders, they know how to play without being douchebags. Well, except for one.

:) @Sandwich, I should have mentioned you have to unlock it first. They way to do this is by healing 5 people in one match (I believe it's called a round for some reason) 8 times. Then you unlock the Medi Pack ability.

For each class they have secondary abilities. So for the Medic you have the First ability (revive gun) and the Second ability (Medi Packs).

To combine (only) the secondary abilities with other ones, you have to use the secondary ability 5 times in one match, 8 times.

Medi Packs heal your health by half a bar or more (I think) and you can put them down for yourself or team-mates or in strategic points with the left button (your secondary ability).

I personally combine the revive gun with the boost ability from the Assault class (this allows you to run extremely fast. I use it a lot to get past ten's of enemies or to kill the assassination target (like I did in the FNF clan match last night) as it's SO helpful. If you turn it on as well you can avoid bullets by strafing quickly and its very hard to shoot you.

@Takeshi

Have you played with the new update? I hate it.

This no spawn invulnerability is fucking terrible. I don't know why they felt they had to "fix" it. There were no real advantages with spawn invulnerability other than the occasional kills whilst invulnerable. Now, you can't even spawn (or get revived) without having to worry about dying 2 seconds later.

Everything else is fine for me. I try finding servers without rockets, so Assault doesn't really mean much to me. Air Support, however, has always been my secondary badge. Now that they boosted it, I feel a bit prouder about it.

@Zippyduda

If I realized you had killed our target, I would have revived him instead of the guy in front of me. My logic was flawed last night. :/

@ De bloo, I think everybody's getting the wrong end of the stick here. I understand yes 7 kills in a row is good, but it's too overpowered, read my last comment. I don't want it to go away, just for the bullets to not hit you from a mile away or when it never saw physically saw you in the first place.

@Rab, well i had it first so that can fuck himself :P and mine makes sense to everybody :)

@Takeshi, you also have the wrong idea. I never ONCE complained about ANYTHING in Killzone 2, EVER. Lol, so that's where you are wrong. At first I didn't like the control scheme after playing so much of COD4, but I got used and as you said I too "suck it up", as I now really enjoy the uniqueness of the control scheme and I don't mind it at all.

I think you also missed the part where I said "I love Killzone 2". I will continue to play it for an extremely long time and don't think because I'm criticising a game means I'm going to quit it.

By saying that it makes me think you think that anyone who rants about a games MINOR flaws (e.g. Rev's Rants) is just going to stop playing games and stop playing every game he rants about. Fuck me Takeshi I thought you had sense. I don't know why but what you said pissed me off for some reason. Why the hell would I stop playing games all together when this is my first rant?

As for the spawn grenades, i was mentioning the invulnerability issue mainly. I didn't see ANYONE wanting it to stop being invulnerable and whoever swayed Guerrilla's mind deserves a slap in my book.

It seems I'm not allowed to make a rant at all without anyway jumping on my back and saying "OH UR WRONG STOP PLAYN GAMES U NOOB". Fuck.

Btw I do play with Dtoider's hence why I was there Friday FNF/clan match. I swear you haven't read this blog at all.

I do look at my map also, but it's kind of hard to tell with a cluster fuck of a map.

I think you read everything i said completely in the wrong context.

@Cognito, haha well you wouldn't have been able to anyway, by the time you'd all realised I'd hit him when he was down (which I always make sure to do to ensure they are dead, obviously) to kill him. So it was inevitable :P

I'm glad you agree with me on the invulnerability issue. I wasn't looking for people to agree just to contribute but Takeshi pissed me off for some reason as I believe he missed a lot of my points, comments and context. I guess not being English might not help so that's fair enough if he read my blog wrong that's totally acceptable.

Rockets dont actually bother me at all. I've just finished using the Assault class for good now as I achieved the ful badge combo thingy with it. And not many people use them.

@Takeshi, also I just wish there was some sort of tutorial for spawn grenades or that you should have to pass something with the spawn grenades to be able to sue them or play online with them etc.

Also it's kind of hard to judge a situation just from the map sometimes what with Saboteurs, not knowing when people are going to spawn, where the next objective will be. There's a lot to think about hence why mentally challenged gamers can't use them.

while I felt spawn invulnerability had to be toned down a bit taking it away was overdoing it, now you have people sitting on spawn point killing people as they form, that kinda defeats the point.

everything else is fine though.

How useful reading this blog has been! I've just put Killzone on and now i've noticed that we have an energy bar! when I thought before that it was just a Call of Duty style hide/recover system.

I still haven't got any of those ribbons to level 8 to know what they do, but I have enough of them in different areas now.

Its quite rewarding though. I'm off to play some more with my new knowledge!

Did I really read everything in the completely wrong context or did you write everything in the wrong context? Well, maybe not everything but there are some issues here.

It starts with the title. A title sets the environment of the piece. Which in your case is very very negative. And it continues to be negative. Saying "By all means, I love Killzone 2" makes me think you just use that sentence as to protect yourself. Stating so many negative things and then telling you love it makes me question that aforementioned statement.

The way you ended the blog: "I wouldn't be surprised if I was slaughtered" means you expected to get negative comments. So don't get angry if you get them.

So sum this all up and tell me if what you wrote: "Fuck me Takeshi I thought you had sense." isn't a bit out of order.

You can rant, of course you can. Just as much as I can comment on your rant.

p.s. When I said: "Or just play with Dtoiders, they know how to play without being douchebags. Well, except for one." I didn't mean you. I probably shouldn't have used that on your blog because it was something you can't know. Fact is that a couple of guys are laughing right now because they know exactly who that one is.

@Video
Yes, I've played it, a lot actually. But not against human players because of my connection problems. But against those bloody brutal bots. It's a lot of fun to try and beat the hardest difficulty. Prepare to be raped.

:) Takeshi I actually didn't think it was aimed at me at all, I thought it was a reference to Yojimbo (if you aren't on his team).

I guess I should have thought more about my blog title. I just made it like that as I'd had enough of being oen shot killed with a magnum and suddenly being killed again and again and again by Air Support and Spawn Grenades being badly placed + the invulnerability issue. I think Cognito summed it up perfectly, in other words "if it ain't broke", don't fix it, which it wasn't broke in the first place.

I said "I love Killzone 2" not as to cover myself just so I could let everyone know I will continue to bum the game and it's graphics, unique tempo, gameplay and fun level, even if I'm ranting about little things that shouldn't have been implemented in my opinion.

I think we were both a little bit in the wrong and I apologise for jumping to some conclusions as well as saying you have no sense (I meant to add something else to the sentence but combine the fact I was annoyed at other things I forgot to write it).

Yeah of course you can comment, it just seemed like you didn't read some little things so got the wrong idea and started talking about other topics in my rant that weren't there.

Off topic a little, what's happening with your connection I heard you had some trouble the other day? Same with Shipero.

That's cool.

Fact is there have been so many "I don't like this about Killzone 2" blogs (both here and on other websites) that I get a bit frustrated by it. So many complaints that Guerrilla changes things they sometimes shouldn't do. I'd hate to see a perfectly good game really go 'down the shitter' because of that. Not only this game, games in the future too. Sure, criticism is good. It will only get us better games but it shouldn't become a common habit to criticize everything. Would you listen to any criticism if you only get complaints? I wouldn't be surprised if they just stop listening at all, good advices included. Now don't take this personal but I think that people complain a bit too much about minor issues nowadays. Even that whole bullshit thing going on with L4D2, boycotting it and all that nonsense. Internet gave people their own private soap box to stand on and be heard. It shouldn't be overused.

I've been thinking about this lately. Why people want to be important or are craving for somekind of weird power to change things. I can't get my finger on it.

I'm gonna stop this rambling of mine before I'm really going to feel old and start smoking a pipe and drinking cups of tea instead of smoking Luckies and drinking Coke.

There is nothing wrong with Shipero. His PS3 crapped out a while ago but he's got it back.

My connection just isn't there. That's it. Stuff happens when you've had a full-time job for 5 years and then decide to become a student again. I'm just lucky my neighbors don't know how to protect their wireless. But not so lucky that they know how to get a connection that's fit for online-gaming.

I see what you're saying totally :)

To be fair, I never complain about games. I just STFUA(J)PG. This is the only game I have minor issues with and it's because other people were complaining so they fucked it up for everybody else IMO.

Also, you might not think it (but it is obvious and I'm sure you noticed) Infinity Ward got a lot of comments and negative things about COD4 even though it was a great game and they listen. It's what testing's for as well.

By the way I had no idea other people had complained about Killzone 2 as well. And I also don't criticize everything or anything really for that matter.

I do think Killzone 2 is a very well put together game (I think there could be a few more options/classes but that's just so I can play it for longer :) but there ain't many more classes they could put in, unless they wanted to copy TF2). The only issues I have are the Magnum (my main concern), the Air Support radically changing, and the turret weakness.

As for Spot and Mark, I will have to try it out first before I think it's biased it just sounds too good to be true. Is it Takeshi? I kinda hope not. Being able to see people where people are behind buildings seem unfair.

I'll quote Online Game Designers Simon Larouche and Eric Boltjes on the second ability:

"With the spot and mark you can scan the field in front of you. And mark every enemy that you see. So it is easier to snipe them and it also broadcasts their position in the radar so your teammates can know where they are and they know where the threat is coming from."

"It's both team-play and solo-play because you're relaying their possition as well as making it easier for yourself to snipe them because they're marked on your HUD."

So there you have it. If you can't see them, you can't mark them.

Time for my comments on your blog. Just gonna separate it by topic followed by my own little rant on change on the Assault class.

Magnum: It isn't a one shot weapon. It's a two shot weapon at full health. It's only one shot if head shot or enemy lost some health. Since Assault use to be my main class, I used this gun quite a lot.

Spot and Mark: The last time I used this ability, it only marked all enemies on screen. And I last used it this week. Any inside a building and out of my view did not get marked. As for the reason on how you can sneak up on snipers, well I think most snipers think the ability is useless, and thus replace it with another ability the moment they can. I usually see snipers with C4 so they can plant to protect their backs. Me personally, I use boost to get to spots more quickly. And then switch my weapon to a shotgun or assault when I find one because it's so hilarious surprising the hell out of people. When a lot of players approach a sniper, they actually get a little reckless and get up close. Most people expect snipers to either attempt no scope or pull out a pistol, they never expect an assault rifle or a shotgun. I've gotten quite a few holy shits from doing that. Quite amusing really. And with the ability to turn invisible, the fun never ends!

Turrents: They're not underpowered if you put them in the right spots. They're weak as hell in open areas. But they can be devastating if used in closed in areas like corners. I get plenty of kills with turrents. They're just like spawn grenades, you just need to know where to put them to use them at their full potential. If anything, they're more better with this patch. I notice a lot more head shots going on with the turrents then pre-patch.

Air Support: It has radically improved since day one of the game's release. You said you've been playing the game for a couple of weeks now. You honestly have no idea how terrible air support was before patches fixed it. Hell, you were lucky enough just to get one kill because they were so useless. This right here is an improvement and actually makes them a useful skill for once. You honestly have no idea how many hours I had to spend in pistol only games just to get the badge for this damn skill honestly because I actually wanted to earn the badge instead of going to a air support badge room. It's annoying to get killed by them, but at least they're useful now. Or at least that's what I mutter to myself every single time I get killed by the damn things and get pissed.

Spawn Grenades: I have no idea what they were thinking removing the temporary invulnerability. That just ruins the game with all the spawn camping. I can guarantee they'll bring back the temporary invulnerability next patch because I hear a lot of bitching about this.

Assault Class: This patch ruined the class. It has no real advantage now besides rockets which is the real reason why everyone hates the class to begin with. I mean, the boost didn't help the class at all. Rockets take to long to reload so it's useless to use them while boosting and you need to be extremely accurate for Grenade Launchers to actually be effective which is very hard to do while boosting. Boosting is only really good when you have an assault rifle in hand or a shotgun. The class has no other abilities other than extra health and they took it away. An Assault use to survive a shot from a sniper, can't do that now. Same goes for shotguns. While other classes still have great advantages like spawn points, turrents, near invisibility, etc. The Assault class lost it's advantage making the class crap now. That extra half of health honestly doesn't do much. Maybe survive an extra few bullets from an assault rifle, just maybe. But that's really it. It was that full bar that made it as good as the other classes.

The Assault class use to be my main class. I like to believe I used the class properly instead of just using rockets for kills. Since the magnum was powerful enough to be a main weapon, I used it like one. I used the magnum and only used rockets to destroy bots. When rockets were disabled, I would scavenge for a weapon (and since that happens in most games, I nicknamed the Assault class the Vulture class because they have to scavenge for weapons in games like that). Most people are happy about this patch. It pissed me off. Instead of weakening the rockets (which that would have been a better alternative) or changing the Assaults main weapon into something like the LMG (which makes more sense because it's not an accurate weapon unless crouching, standing still, or up close at which point that extra health comes in handy), they weaken the class by taking away it's one true advantage.

And I have to wonder why not switch the LMG of the common soldier with the explosive weapons of the assault? Give the Assault it's original health back with LMG as it's main weapon. Let those fools who use rockets get no bonuses like extra health or second abilities. I honestly think if they did that, you would see a hell of a lot less rocket users about.

@Takeshi, well I'll be damned :) Well it's nice to know it's not incredibly biased and easy to use, thanks for finding that information. I little bit of me thought it might be a see and mark basis which is god to know, cheers.

@Patman, for the magnum, I still believe it is a crazy ass gun, I'm trying to think of the equivalent in other games....

It's kind of like the Shoryuken of Killzone, it has to much priority, it deals too much damage and is used by everybody. Obviously I commend people for being good with a pistol but no pistol in the history of games have I come across one so powerful.

The Scout, no doubt I am going to stick with this class once I get it because on most games I play I play as a sniper. At the moment my most used class (I'm up to Saboteur nearly the Scout) is the Medic class. I combine this with boost and it feels like the best damn thing in the world. Being able to boost into the battlefield to be able revive a team mate is exhilarating.

I can honestly say Killzone for me gets the feel of war perfectly right in the game, more than any other game I've played (on a console, not including Rome: Total War). The game reminds me of one big play though of that Behind the Bullet commercial in slow motion, it just gets the feeling right that you're rushing through a chaotic warzone :)

I think the Boost ability is one of the best features on the game due to it's effectiveness on virtually every game type, Assassination, Capture The Flag, Search and Destroy, Bodycount, everything. As it allows you to beat the enemy to protecting or destroying something.

IMPORTANT :P

I haven't been play been playing for a few weeks I've had the game since launch. I started playing online about 2 and a half months ago. So I DO know what it's like before and after for every feature.

The air support before was fine in my opinion, it got plenty of kills, was destroyed with some effort (unlike turrets which is as easy as breathing) and didn't need more power and better AI. Now it feels MUCH harder to kill them, they move more and kill me every 2 seconds. They've kind of made Air Support like the Magnum. So yeah I've been playing since D-Day 1 really :P

As for your worries about the Assault class, even though you say it's your main, I believe you are not using it correctly all the time. It's not my main class and I know how to use it pretty effectively I believe. (I'm not saying your shit btw).

I use boost but walk strafe around an enemy or run round him whilst reloading. The amount of times I've been able to get out of situations or down a road strafing or to an objective past 10+ enemies is crazy because boost is extremely helpful for that sort of stuff.

I think it's a welcome downgrade to the class considering the magnum + rocket launcher + boost + extra armour/health is crazy powerful. I still think it is the worst though because it ONLY has explosive weapons. That' where I believe it got screwed over as well Patman.

@BrainDerailment, it's 7 kills just so you know from now on :)

As for your second point, hence why I am STILL doing the turret specialist badges/ribbons. But I see where you are coming from Patman in that I may not be using them to their full potential. I get that putting them in corridors and corners helps, as I do it a lot in good places. It's combined with the absolute fact that they are weak poop that get destroyed before even firing a shot.

The reason this happens is because of grenade spam or just general grenades, rocket launchers (these two factors are made worse when it is a close combat level and it's not body count). And the WORST, the absolute worse idea ever, was that you can hurt your own turrets, now who the hell thought that was a good idea?

I get it that in real life it would hurt, but you just shouldn't be able to do that.

I believe turrets should be able to react faster (as in the AI targets them better, not turning faster) as the amount of times I can just run past one without a boost is silly, and with they don't even realise I went past.

Air Support is nothing like CoD's helicopter. I thought Air Support was perfectly balanced. It's still very easy to kill, but if you're below 50% health, there's a good chance it can take you out before you take it out first. Whereas before, the thing was lucky to get even one kill per match, you can just about hit five kills or so in a decently sized game.

I thought they did a great job with Air Support. Also, it takes two shots to kill someone with the M1, not one.

@Jim, it might just be I always get caught out when I'm on lower health but I still think it's overpowered.

In general I've always hated any form of Air Support in any game as it's never been done correctly or balanced in my opinion but that's just me.

Regarding the magnum, I don't think it's the power of the one-shot kill... I think the problem is with the range. It just doesn't seem right that the magnum has the same range as a rifle or LMG.

I like the upgrade to the air support... though I was sitting there needing just one more air support ribbon, so am giddy and happy that I finally got it! Just like the other turrents and stationary MG's, the airbots are now an actual force in the game and serve a purpose. Teams are limited in the number that can be out at any one time and they're only good in an outdoor location... so I'm actually liking this change and don't fine them overpowered.

Regarding the turrets... it's all about location. If they are in a good location, they'll easily get kills. The top of stairs is often good because they'll get a head shot kill.

Spot and Mark... it only marks people that are actually visible to you when you run the spot/mark scanner. If someone comes out of a building a second after you scan, they won't show up. If they go into building after being marked though... yes, they will show up. You can manage to sneak up on scouts because it's not a 360 degree scan... just their actual viewpoint (what they see in front of them at the moment they scan).

I think one of the biggest changes to the game with the newest update is the lack of spawn invincibility with the spawn grenades... this makes a HUGE difference when doing the attack part of attack/defend. It makes the use of the squad leader spawn much more important and changes the games tactics substantially. I like the change... but it's definitely a big change!

Nice rant! :)

(and I agree about the Engineer and the shotty. I hate the shotty and would use the Engy a lot more if I wasn't stuck with that weapon. In fact I often look around for a better weapon as a pick up off of a dead enemy. Some people are just incredibly lethal with the shotty... especially if they're boosting.. but I just find it very heavy)

I'm in the anti-shotty Engineer group. The shotgun DOES feel heavy and blah. I've had the game for months and I still don't have the turret badge/ribbon/whatever. I only needed one more Air Support badge before the patch, so I'm excited on getting that in probably the next game. I haven't unlocked the Magnum, though. I'm just terrible with non-auto guns, I guess.

I think what we should do is get a game going tonight. We shouldn't just relegate KZ2 to Fridays.

@ Elsa :) Thanks for your contribution it's nice to see such a range of feedback and different opniions and arguments to the ideas.

I'm actually very good with the Shotgun I find and combined with boost is very helpful :]

@Cognito, it's SO strange you should say that I was thinking about that after the FNF clan match. Everyone disappeared and I wanted more :]

It made me actually think "We should do Killzone nights more often" but I wasn't sure about people working.

It's scary how many coincidences there have been today it's freaky :)

@ Zippy

If I'm using the Assault class wrong, then you're basically saying the right way to use the class is rocket and grenade the hell out of people, thus saying the class is being persecuted because of it's actual function in the game (and before you factor in the usual complaints of the class, keep on reading). I do have the urge to repeat what I said earlier just because I'm usually a ranting person, but I won't. People can easily scroll back up to my first comment. The Assault class only sounds crazy powerful. What makes it crazy powerful is the creators choice of it's main weapons. The extra health was it's class advantage. The boost is somewhat limited when using with the Assault because of the weapon choices for the class. And the magnum is the only thing keeping the class from being completely gimped since most games block all of the Assaults main weapons (if they let the Assault play of course). You said it yourself that Assault isn't your main, so I have no idea how many games you've played as Assault. So I don't know if you have any idea how badly the Assault class was limited pre-patch with all its weapons blocked. And even with the patch, many rooms are still restricting the Assaults main weapons. Why? Because of the damn rocket and grenade launchers. All the patch really did was make an already gimped class more gimped. Hell, I'm using my boost tactician combo more now because the Assault has been so gimped. The drop from 100 health to 50 was entirely too much. A simple drop to 75 would have taken away the option for rocket users to rocket people in the face and live, but would still would have given the class some advantage.

@ Video Cognito

Go to pistol only games. You'll get the hang of the gun soon enough. I know I wasn't good with it either at first, just takes a little practice. I fully agree that playing KZ2 should be extended beyond Fridays. I noticed that Cheap Ass Gamer has their own KZ2 clan. Perhaps find other gaming sites with their own KZ2 clans and set up a tournament or something.

@ Patman, no not at all I'm not saying you should run around with an RPG or Grenade launcher (the worst weapon on the game I think, not in Story mode though).

I think it's definitely "gimped" in that it should have other weapons. But to be fiar, the Assault class was the most complained about feature/class in the whole game so it went with the 80%+ amount of people in downgrading it.

I'll be honest and say it deserved it I think and I did play as the Assault class often (but only for the boost badge etc. I just found it to be a really annoying class to go up against. It's fun to play as still and I think it's way more balanced now (until it gets a good weapon it's still crap in that sense)

About post FNF Killzone matches.

I've contacted so many other Clans. They all back out or just don't respond. I haven't tried Cheap Ass Gamer yet.

I don't know what the hell happened but when I still had a connection I was playing every night with full rooms. Pulled off a couple of All Nighters as well. In a way it has to be expected that the first weeks after launch usually are the busiest but still. Expect a lot of matches when I return to my hosting duties.

But you guys don't have to wait for anything ofcourse. I've seen quite a few Dtoiders mention this. It's not too hard to round up a few people.

I'm currently updating the Clan Blog because I'm doing it all by hand it takes quite a while. Having this gimped connection doesn't help either. You need quite a hefty connection for Killzone.com.

I'll keep y'all posted.

I've tried and I don't know... I'm just so terrible when I'm not using an M82 or Sniper. I remember the first two weeks I had the game, I got in the top 10%. I need to get back into form.

Putting this out there: I should be home ~11pm/12am CST tonight. Anybody interested in playing around then?

@ Cognito, well that would mean me staying up until 6am so fuck that man, sorry. Got college tomorrow.

Where do you work or what are you doing that makes you get back so late?

I would if it was a Wednesday, Friday or Saturday night but not on any other night. Unless it was the summer holidays which it isn't for me yet, so soon....

It is a pain in the arse for us Brits waiting till 3-5am for all you guys to play. Quit your jobs or play earlier!! lol :P

@ Takeshi, thanks for the update :) much appreciated.
