Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
This is realyl not alot of content for a whole blog post. You may notice that this appears on teh general community blog roll, and pushes down other peoples stuff, that they put alot of effort into.
Please expand on ideas/consolidate short posts/ consider joining existing conversations on the forums, or starting your own post about mobile games if what's there isn't quite what you're on about.
I personally don't see the iPhone as a very capable gaming device. Yes, there are some good games on there, I will freely admit that. But, there's just something wrong with some of the games I've come across. Cases of "they just didn't care" are most prevalent, but a few too many games utilize complete screen tilting. Like, say, the wooden labyrinth games. Personally, I hate having to tilt the screen away from me in order to do anything. Tilting like steering? That's fine. But I have to usually bend over my iDevice and then tilt and...yeah...I don't like that. And some have poorly-implemented touch controls.
One thing that bothers me is just the absolute glut of games (and apps) for the iDevice. You think the Wii or DS have shovelware out the ass? Apple can boast of 100,000 apps all they like, but ask people what ones are really good and especially ask them which ones they regret buying. Quality over quantity, right?
That said, I still think that the DS is better for gaming when you compare it to Apple's stuff. You have buttons on a DS, after all. Sure, you can emulate up to a friggin' -PS1- on an iPhone 3GS, but having no feedback from buttons you press (as well as blocking the screen with your fingers) kinda sucks. I don't like some stylus-only games on the DS either, but at least it's not a total blockage with my giant hands.
I don't have to justify this statement.
