I don't fucking believe this, my PS3 broke AGAIN! This makes my Third time that a PS3 has died on me, the first was a 60 gig that started grinding my discs (literally, my copy of MGS4 was unplayable), the second and now this one suddenly stopped outputting video! all I get is a line of green and yellow fragmentation across all the TV's (and one HDMI capable moniter) I've tried it on! Worked fine last night and this afternoon dead.

I'm on my Second Xbox 360, Original Wii, and today I'll be on my fourth PS3. There is something wrong with this picture. Has anyone else had this bullshit? Am I alone or is PS3 the secret shoddiest console ever?

p.s. I'm not being a sony hater, but I am pissed off.

Is this post awesome? Vote it up!

Wow... that's awful!
Are you keeping your PS3 in an open space with lots of access to air and are you dusting it regularly? I still have my launch 60GB and have had no problems... though I know others are getting failures too - but I don't think I've every heard of 3 failures with one person before!

For some reason, I'm still on my second PS2, but I know that its mostly been my effort that keeps it working at all. They built these things to fail.

In your case, though, it sounds like you're not taking care of your PS3, I've heard very, very few complaints about PS3 compared to what I know of PS2 and what Xbox 360 seem to be notorious for. I don't think you just have bad luck, but possibly aren't keeping it in a ventilated area or keeping the dust out.

First instance, though, I feel your pain. My first PS2 did that back when FFX came out. That grinding noise scared the fuck out of me. Thankfully, the disc was ok.

It's God's way of telling you to stop masturbating.

Seriously though, sorry to hear about another console failure.

@Dragracdude I tried that, the people at best buy tried that, it didn't work, PS3 number 4 it is x.x

@ Silent Protagonist I keep all my game console's next to my television which is an open well ventalated area which I dust regularly using antistatic cloths and the Dust Off canned air stuff.(I'll admit, I'm a bit of a neat freak especially with my technology.)

Do you turn your PS3 off by flipping the back switch? Do you keep buying used? Do you unplug and pack up and move your PS3 in a poorly insulated duffel bag? I'm not making fun of you, my heart really does go out to you. I'm just wondering if any of these tragedies could have been averted.

Never had a single PS3 issue. The 60gb and 20gb ones had problems, but they fixed all the issues after that.

@Ryderbackside no to all of the above, my PS3 was a new 60 gig, replaced with a new 80 gig (yay for buying the extended warranty) and that was replaced with a new slim (now a second). All were new, all were transported in well padded and insulated cases that I personally handled with the care of porcelain. I'm just unlucky apparently.

Yeah I have ALWAYS had issues with Sony products. Sony cell phones, radios, PS2, PSP, etc.

And not to sound fanboyish or trollish but I have never had an issue with Sega, Microsoft, or Nintendo consoles. Just sayin'.

The problem here is that your Wii hasn't malfunctioned yet. It's sucking the life force out of your other consoles. Tell it to share.

If anything you may just be a victim of manufacturing defects. Every electronic device has a failure rate, each production batch will have lemons, basically you're purchase is based on luck. Check to make sure your power cord isn't frayed or anything, or if you live in an area with a lot of lighting or poor electrical wiring, this can cause irregularities that could break the system. Surge supressors are always a good investment.

I've never had issue with my 40, but I also rarely play it. I've gone through 3 or 4 360's, including my second purchased one (so I have 2 working units) and I'm still on my launch Wii, which also doesn't get played much. Like I said, it's luck of the draw. I know people who have gone through several of any system, yet had flawless performance from every other.

Maybe try contacting Sony and see if someone can help you? Otherwise, just make sure to buy a warranty.

That is what I meant to type before I hit ADD COMMENT, dammit. Sorry, I'm actually, no joke, just dizzy from playing first person Tetris. Also, the red wine didn't help. Feel like Yoshi after he touched Fuzzy. No more.

@Artemus:
That is the most inconvenient implementation of Tetris I've ever seen. The ARE and lock delay are awful, the floor and wall kick rules are unintuitive, the randomizer threw me 5 Z-pieces in a row, the topout only applies at the 19th and 20th rows instead of 20th only, and there's only one rotation button. Of all of those, why didn't the author at least do something about that last one?

Not to mention that that isn't first-person else we'd be looking down the well.
