Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Are you keeping your PS3 in an open space with lots of access to air and are you dusting it regularly? I still have my launch 60GB and have had no problems... though I know others are getting failures too - but I don't think I've every heard of 3 failures with one person before!
In your case, though, it sounds like you're not taking care of your PS3, I've heard very, very few complaints about PS3 compared to what I know of PS2 and what Xbox 360 seem to be notorious for. I don't think you just have bad luck, but possibly aren't keeping it in a ventilated area or keeping the dust out.
First instance, though, I feel your pain. My first PS2 did that back when FFX came out. That grinding noise scared the fuck out of me. Thankfully, the disc was ok.
Seriously though, sorry to hear about another console failure.
@ Silent Protagonist I keep all my game console's next to my television which is an open well ventalated area which I dust regularly using antistatic cloths and the Dust Off canned air stuff.(I'll admit, I'm a bit of a neat freak especially with my technology.)
Sux2bu. Sorry, but Seriously.
Maybe it's your electrical wiring in your place? I don't know...
And not to sound fanboyish or trollish but I have never had an issue with Sega, Microsoft, or Nintendo consoles. Just sayin'.
I've never had issue with my 40, but I also rarely play it. I've gone through 3 or 4 360's, including my second purchased one (so I have 2 working units) and I'm still on my launch Wii, which also doesn't get played much. Like I said, it's luck of the draw. I know people who have gone through several of any system, yet had flawless performance from every other.
Maybe try contacting Sony and see if someone can help you? Otherwise, just make sure to buy a warranty.
That is what I meant to type before I hit ADD COMMENT, dammit. Sorry, I'm actually, no joke, just dizzy from playing first person Tetris. Also, the red wine didn't help. Feel like Yoshi after he touched Fuzzy. No more.

Thanks for the link. That shit is ridiculous!
That is the most inconvenient implementation of Tetris I've ever seen. The ARE and lock delay are awful, the floor and wall kick rules are unintuitive, the randomizer threw me 5 Z-pieces in a row, the topout only applies at the 19th and 20th rows instead of 20th only, and there's only one rotation button. Of all of those, why didn't the author at least do something about that last one?
Was this before or after the eye cancer?
