Nice review.
It has that "final fantasy effect" that i get.
Once the door to the final boss is opened, i lose all interest in side quests. Why not make it the hardest boss in the game? Why not a challenge? I have to really power up for every reason besides the actual storyline.
Anyway, it was a good game while it lasted.
only 80, jeez...I just picked this back up to try to finish it and I'm at 100 hours, although I've finished 250 quests and am working on mastering Adelle's Heritor class
I agree . . . only 80? I finally got all 300 done at like ~135ish or so . . . too lazy to boot up the DS to check, lol. Was thinking about Mastering all classes with the "main" characters and all, but said screw it, lol.
Well, now I'm suffering from an hours-played inferiority complex! Guess it's time to get back in and finish those unfinished missions!
Congrats! The only Japanese strategy RPG I ever beat was Ogre Battle and the original Final Fantasy Tactics. They are so damn time consuming. Way to stick with it though, as from reading your review, sounds like it was worth it.
Watching your team/army develop slowly over time into something great is a really rewarding experience. 50 differen jobs, wow.
I just started Front Mission on my DS and am hoping it doesn't suck 100 hours from my life so I can try FFTA next without wanting to puke, but we'll see 8-X
I liked Tactics for the PS1 but could never really finish it. Apparently, as with so many Square games of the era, I was playing it "all wrong". I do want to go back with a GameFAQs guide in hand and try again. Or maybe I'll get the PSP version.
By the way, good review! Excellent writing.
