I have to admit, after the awkward movie and then the lackluster start to Origins, I had just about given up hope of there ever being a "real" Slient Hill experience ever again. It had hit Hollywood, and had become corrupted.
Now with SHV, I'm starting to change my mind. The scans we saw last week were amazing, even if the bits of plot that were revealed were certainly nothing new.
These new gameplay videos are very short and don't really get into the meat of what makes Silent Hill, well, Silent Hill, but I think they show that things are moving in the right direction. Plus it's impossible to get a feel for the game without playing it yourself.
I wouldn't say there are amazing, but at this point I'll take a simple "really good" over "Roger Avery" any day.
@Kif: Yeah, the movie was alright, but it just didn't feel right to me. The pacing was all wrong, and it just wasn't creepy. Then again I'm totally gay for SH1 and 2, and you never forget your first love.
@Zac Bentz you didn't like 3? Personally I loved them all but that's because I love what they do and attempted in all of them. Anyhow. Oh you're also the only person on here that I've seen that didn't fucking hate the movie. Why I don't understand, it was better in every aspect than that peice of shit Paul WS Anderson did with Resident Evil.
GREAT VIDEOS! Wooooof, I'm sewper cereal this game makes me happy in the pants so far. I really liked not just the obvious all around sharper graphics and textures but the enviroment seemed that much more interactive in both things like the chains, but the sound came off as much more realistic which is one of the SH's big things. Creepyyyyy ^^
I watched this yesterday. I seriously, seriously cannot right. I'm glad you guys enjoyed the movie because honestly I loved it and thought it was the best video game translation yet. Of course it wasn't perfect, but it was pretty good!
The movie was trash, mainly the second half, when there were are all these annoying people and a retarded half ass expose' on the plot.
However this looks like it should be an excellent revival of the series, and hopefully another successful Konami outsourcing to a US studio (see Contra 4). It gives me a very SH 1 vibe, which is not a bad thing at all.
@Lowtax: Oh, don't get me wrong, I did enjoy 3 and 4 as well, but they pale in comparison to 2, and you just can't beat 1 for its total originality and really really weird shit. 3 and 4 were just going though the motions IMO. Still really good though.
