Where is my tennis game ?
Yshaana | 7:09 AM on 07.05.2007 2 comments

With the success of the Wii on all continents, and how it's been advertised as being the ultimate sports simulation machine, it’s hard to believe no one has a tennis game to shove our consumerist asses.

Everyone who has played Wii Sports has thought at some point that a real tennis game, where you actually move and place your player, would be a lot of fun. Sure, Wii Sports is great at drunken parties and is something that anyone can pick up and play. Actually I think it might have been designed for drunken retards. Nevertheless I would actually like to be challenged in a Wii sports title, that is not a football title and not something that is designed with my mom in mind.

So a true tennis experience would have to be really cool. Without a doubt, it would be hard to master, and the nunchuk cable would be a problem, there might be a few deaths related to it, but this puppy, combined with online play, could be the best thing to hit my living room.

What surprises me though is that no one has announced anything (well there was this unknown publisher that said something vague about some tennis game, last year at E3, and nothing since…), not even a simple PS2 port of some shitty Wimbledon 2003 Wii edition. Hell, I bet a Virtua Tennis 2 port on the Wii would sell like cupcakes.

There's no doubt we'll see one eventually, but I just hope (pray even?) that they actually do a good job on the title and don't spit out some unplayable, ugly crap, to jump on the Wii bandwagon...
I am just afraid that the closest thing to a tennis game we’ll get will be a “Super Princess Peach Badminton Adventures”.

You know you want it.

Somebody releasing a tennis game on the Wii, particularly during the height of the tennis season, would imply that publishers weren't all fucking imbeciles. So no, this isn't going to happen.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?

Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!

 about me

My name is Alex, I am French, 26, and I am a tester at Nintendo of Europe. Basically, I'm the reason why games are released a little later in Europe (Well sort of anyway :P)

Hope you enjoy my rants!
