For those who are weird and may actually want to read more of my stuff here are things off the blog I do. Occasionally I wrote for Flixist, a rad movie site where, get this, we talked about and reviewed movies. I have long since stopped writing there ( and here ) as I feel like I've said all I have had cooped up in my head without sounding redundant.

Y'know, there's something to be said about moderation. As in all things can be enjoyed in moderation. Be it drinking, gambling, gaming and even being online. For a bit there my old ass was consumed with being online. Gotta get my gaming news, had to follow someone's Tweets, needed to write a blog, had to listen to a podcast, needed to get on Facebook, and a slew of other internet related things that when viewed from afar seem to be a waste of time. At least to me it is. Took a break. A hiatus. Didn't bother logging on my Gmail, my Twitter, my Facebook, and even Destructoid itself. Know what? My world didn't end. I didn't have withdrawals of any kinds. I didn't miss hearing about anything related to games on a daily basis (perhaps because there are no real gaming news on a daily basis). I enjoyed smaller pleasures like extended sleep, watching movies, and get this...playing games.

The holidays arrived and with them came more games. Some more memorable then others and some I haven't even opened yet. But that's okay too. I don't feel the need to rush through them to the end. This isn't a race. I'm not a game reviewer. I have no actual deadline. I think I'll just try to enjoy them thank you very much. I think I'll also come up with my own conclusions regarding them too. I realized from my " internet hiatus" that I wasn't being spoon-fed someone's opinion about what I was playing, or thinking of getting. I had to arrive at what I thought of something on my own, without getting it from you or her or them. I realized just how much nonsensical bullshit I was subscribing to. Too much negativity, nit-picking, and just plain bullshit. I encourage anyone reading this to unplug for awhile and experience this realization for themselves.

I find it funny coming back and catching up on things how nothing changes. It seems like there is no originality. Everything written is a faint echo of something written before. Hell, the majority of what's written doesn't even have anything to say. Occasionally you'll come across something thoughtful and well written relating to games but those are diamonds in the rough, jewels to be mined - not things out in the open to pick at. Still I see people getting upset about what so and so wrote about whatever game they loved, to the point of cussing them out. That shit is bizarre. If you think about it, it is beyond moronic. People waste their time with this garbage going back and forth. Daily. If you're even remotely getting riled up about something written you gotta take a break brother.

Chill. Go get laid. Hang out with your friends. IRL. Go buy over-priced gaming accessories like me and mod them. Like I did below.

Now if you'll excuse me I'm going to unplug, log-off, not link this blog to my Twitter or Facebook or whore it somewhere else so that you may read it and play SSFIV for five hours straight, if not more. I might even open Gran Turismo 5, or Fallout New Vegas on the 360. I have a lot more time that I can allot to my favorite pastime now that I'm not wasting it on trivialities. I heard 2010 sucked big time for quite a few of yous...personally I thought it was a fantastic year for games, as well as myself. 2011 is looking like the cat's meow too. See you folks online... in moderation of course.

Yeah man it seems the negativity is on 11 at the moment, there were so many awesome games in 2010 and like yourself i developed some new skills and modded my arcade stick. I came to the realisation that 95% of the Internet is regurgitated content so i've cut down on my inputs/involvement too.
Anything with Toshiro Mifune's face on it is a thing of beauty.

Well, except that one where he plays a gaunt old man (in bad old man make-up) trying to get his family out of Japan before the bombs hit. Ehhh...that one you don't really need to stick on anything. Unless, you're morbid.

Like I said on Ali D's blog, I think 2010 is the year of the nitpickers. I know for fact that my favourite games weren't everybody's favourites, but shit, I try not to care about sales or reviews (hell, if I drowned out the noise, I actually enjoyed Kane & Lynch 2 and I might even give Mindjack a go sometime).

The way I see it, as long as you enjoyed a game, in the comfort of your own living room/bedroom, it doesn't really matter. You can defend it or enlighten someone, but at the end of the day, as long as you had fun, it shouldn't matter. It's not anybody on the internet has a say in your life.

So amen to that, Yojimbo!
That fight stick is fucking badass.

And yes, I will try my dammdest to get laid.
Nice stick dude!

Are you going to play me in Capcom 3 when it comes out? I couldn't get into SFIV, despite your nagging, hahaha.
Well . . . well . . . well . . . look who decides to rear their ugly mug (only due to jealousy of facial hair) around here again! =P Nice to have a quality read good sir. A few things of note:

A) Glad to hear you're alive, I was wondering what was going to happen to my excess t-shirt or my collection of them if I had an untimely demise.
B) I went to Japan and found both a Samurai DOMO and tons of awesome samurai stuff . . . I still await my drawing of "me." =)
C) Already had to make do without internet for like 2 weeks in Japan, it was nice and relaxing. Came back and caught up though, pretty disappointed that I missed like nothing on the Cblogs. >_<
D) I too am somewhat challenging you to Marvel vs. Capcom 3, since I'll actually be PLAYING that game when it is out! ^_^

Hope all is well mate and I hope you're living at the same address still! =)
Taking a break is a good idea! Me, I've been feeling the Twitter/Facebook pressure, but I think I'm gonna just stick with Dtoid. I already spend too much time here and adding to it with other aspects would just be too much I think.

On games... I've never actually been too influenced by what I read. I like what I like and don't like what I don't like. I know everyone seems super-excited for Killzone 3, but from my beta experience, I'll likely skip the game. I'll be getting Two Worlds 2 instead of Mass Effect 2. Peer pressure be damned, I know which game I'll likely find to be more fun and more to my own tastes. I love reading the opinions of others and sometimes it encourages me to expand my gaming horizons, or gives me the opportunity to try a game I own online... but overall, I guess I'm old and not as influenced by peer pressure.

Great blog and it seems that you're in a good place!
Hmmmm I need to mod my stick now.
@ Jimbo: I can't wait to play you again now that you've had your fight stick a while. Even though I usually end up losing I have a blast playing SSFIV with you, and I can't wait to get some MVC3 in when that comes out.
Good to see you, Jimbo...I'm not on here as much myself either, though that's mostly due to having to work, heh. Can't complain too much though, considering how long it took me to even find the paltry opening I've got - anyways, glad to hear you've been well.
Dat mutherfuckan stick!

OMG.
Awesome stick mod. I just got a stick myself and it's going to be a while before I'm confident with it. Zangief just became a lot easier to spam though.
Classy.
Glad to see you back here J1mbo. I understand where you are coming from when you tell us to unplug. I more or less ignored Facebook for the entirety of 2010, to the point where I really only use it to keep up with family these days. I could never ignore Dtoid though. Even when I have an extended absence from the cblogs or front page comments, I still yearn to come back, I do so love it here.

And I'm with Elsa when it comes to letting others influence my tastes. I enjoy reading other gamer's opinions on games but I always make my own opinion on the games I'm interested in. Perfect example is Epic Mickey. It was a GOTY contender for me while other people hated it.
I forgot to comment on your stick mod, which is absolutely sick. I wish I had the time and patience to do that but it'll never happen.
I keep missing you every time you wanna SSFIV.

Monday, we're doing this. And you better be using that fucking stick.

That sounds so wrong.
shit. i'm a few days late but i hear ya on the breaks. i do short little saboticals myself to help clean my ego out.
Too bad there's no competition on PSN.

LOL
Thats some mighty fine modding you got there. I just finished a HORI mod myself.
