While doing a bit of cleaning up on my sidebar today, getting it sorted out and updated, I realized I didn't need this anymore.
To those not in the know, that is part of a specifically designed header by our residential artist extraordinaire, Ceark , given to me. A while ago in these neck of the woods, he took on the herculean task of recapping all the Cblogs all the community members did in one consolidated post with links, his special brand of insight and his own brand of humor. Not only that but he had it organized by categories ranging from his infamous
Picks of The Day to
Fail blogs.
I don't know about anybody else but to me that was like picking up the newspaper in the morning with breakfast. As soon as I logged on Destructoid the first thing I would do is scan the Cblogs for his Cblog Recaps for the day prior to. It was an awesome thing. You never missed anybody's Cblogs and for instant lulz you would head to the
Fail section, or at least I did.
After awhile he needed help and asked for assistance and that was when the original recappers stepped in. Shipero, Sadie G [ Miss you Kid ], and yours truly chipped in with our own unique twist to Ceark's template. He would have his
Arkisms, a prologue of sorts that sometimes he would use to explain his thought processes pertaining his art to going on a shopping spree and we would have our own thing as well.
Time moved on and less of Ceark was seen as his schedule didn't permit as much time to the Cblog Recap as he was able to before. Others joined the proud lineage of recappers. Community members Conrad Zimmerman [ Before he became an editor ] with his awesome movie pic references and own stories, Gynecologist Cobra, Scary Womanizing Pig, and even Reaprar with his unique stylings. The fun thing about them then was the different personalities at work recapping everything with their own seal and their own take.
Awesome stuff.
As with everything time moves on and things get modified for the better or worse. The Cblog recaps are non existent as they once were. The
Choose the blog topic that best fits: when we create blogs now is a more efficient way of recapping blogs and having them lined up on the side of the site for all to see. But I can't help that the charm, the laughs and the personalities of this unofficial experiment maintained by Ceark and Company, this eclectic fraternity, are gone for good without even a eulogy. Consider this one for them.
Call me sentimental or crazy, and yes, I know it's kind of silly Destructoid but I miss the original Cblogs Recaps. Here's to a look back with fondness at an old friend missed.
Shame, really. But what can you do? Who really has time to do something like that?
All those guys who used to do it were real champs. I salute them, and I think I'll pour a little bit of my beer out for them tonight to remember their greatness.
So long C-blog recaps. You will be missed. :-(
I'll pour this on the curb for the C-blog recaps. They were a great feature. Does someone with no job and nothing better to do want to don the mantle of the C-blog recapper and carry onward? Dtoid wants you!
You're not alone in your appreciation and fondness for them.
I don't see how the cblog tags replace the recaps though. The list of posts on the side is awesome, but it's doesn't show all of the days posts, and doesn't fill the role of a one stop way to check what happened on the cblogs over the day. I'd be all for us still doing them, but with out Conrad or Ceark, it wouldn't feel the same :(
I might do one tonight though, just for nostalgia's sake :)
An abortion of a word if I ever saw one.
Onto serious businezz stuff, I too miss the recaps, especially Reaprars, no really.
You did not mention the time-saving aspect good sir, no need to keep fucking around loading pages and whatnot, simply open the link in a new tab.
Yeah, Jimbo's new Blog Header is WIN... Very Much so!
Walks off grumbling about not getting any respect and slowly turning into Rodney Dangerfield...
Shush. Liver doesn't talk.
LOL.
My bad. But in my defense, I am old, crinkly and forgetful.
Also, that's a cute puppy.
Automated sorting systems might be more efficient, but they don't have any soul. Know what I'm sayin'?
Good work though
But I am looking forward to Kung Fu Panda 2.
Also, GHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOSSSSSTTTTTTTT!!!!!!
And yeah, I second Richard's uncalled for but still potent nostalgia over Nex. I don't think he's allowed to threaten babies over on GameLife, so it kind of takes the soul out of his writing.
