It's that time again for me to highlight yet another game that has considerably dropped in price and tell you that yes, it needs to be in your collection. That this game has made even one particular Destructoid editor a
sobbing emotional wreck and that
Dtoid's official review deemed it a must buy is but more icing on an already delicious cake. You need this game. If you just bought a PS3 Slim you owe it to yourself to plunk down the twenty bucks to experience this awesome PS3 exclusive. Did you know it's having even more DLC on the way? Oh yes.
To those that for some reason don't know what I'm talking about, the game in question is
Valkyria Chronicles and this game at this price can only be found at your local Walmart of all places. That picture above is from their website and as you can see, that's a price drop of 50% percent. That price point is of the
liquidating our stock of them. So I urge you to visit your Walmart immediately and rummage around either their game sale bins or put your peepers to work and seek out the game in their enclosed game cases, because once their gone, that's all she wrote.
But you don't have to take my word for it, I'm quite sure if you peruse the net you will find like minded gamers telling you how awesome this game is. I urge you ladies and gentlemen of Destructoid to go forth and seek this game out and add it to your collection. I'll even go one further and tell you to purchase it even if you
don't have a PS3 yet. Make that be your first experience when you eventually do get one. You can thank me later.
Now go...shoo!
BUY IT.
So. Where's my tequila shot?
Ew! Gross! Wal-mart. Even their website feels under-managed and depressing.
@Blehman
I'm throwing a big birthday party on the 26th of this month. Bring your ass to NC and I'll have a bottle with your name on it, brother.
Phew, finally you post one of these and I already own the game. My wallet is thankful of that.
you would try to sell ice to an eskimo wouldn't you? lol.
Done. This is exactly the sort of price drop I've been waiting for.
It's still 40 bucks in all the online retailers that ship internationally... :'(
Oh balls, none of the stores here have it. Of course.
@Naim:
This price can only be found in Walmart. Gamestop and Amazon still have it at 40 bucks.
I bought that shit when it was 60 bux, yo.
So party at your place?
I tried the demo and just really didn't like the game (though I've never been overly keen on strategy type games). :(
I've heard from others though that this is a "must buy"... so there must be something to the game that just doesn't initially seem evident in the demo.
hmm party at jimb0s? i could make it to NC by the 26th. whats this party all about?
Must buy: I agree! Hopefully SEGA won't be reduced to putting subsequent sequels on a handheld that has one of the worst marketshares to date.
@Elsa
The demo was pretty shit. It's strengths are character development, story, and unit management: nothing you can get in the demo.
I'll buy it.
I saw it for fifteen earlier this year and I hate myself for not getting it.
Damn, this is the problem living in Canada. I can never get deals.
Well I'd buy it if I could find it....and not at $80 CDN either!!
I was playing this last night! So good.
i simply cannot recommened this game enough...buy it now.....NOW!
Good deal, wrong game for me. It's not for everyone.
Even though I am a pitiful excuse for a strategy gamer, I bought the first copy straight out of the box shipped to my GameStop. Beautiful game, even if I'll never make it past the 3rd or 4th level. :(
Although I really want to support the cause, I wouldn't play the game sadly.
Very tempting since this game is one of the top games on my "must buy when I has cash" list. But who knows how long this fantastic deal will last. Let's see what cash this jobless college student can scrounge up. Thanks for the heads up jimbo
I totally paid $70 for this when it came out. Don't blame me!
Don't like the game at all, my expectations were pretty high and when I got my hands on the demo, the core gameplay bored me to tears. I love me some SRPG's on my DS, but I stopped playing the demo of VC after 10 mins.
Sure the character/story might be great, but I'm not going force myself through that kind of game play just to experience them.
I'll echo what Nic128 said, good deal, but it ain't for everyone.
Well, I guess I'll be buying a new game soon. I've been waiting for this price drop.
Fuck yeah.
If it's under $25 CDN I will be buying it, thanks for the heads up!
I saw this the other day and seriously considered buying it. However, I decided not to, thanks to the way to large amount of games I'm about to purchase the next 3 months.
turn-based = meh
@Phantom Spaceman
Your taste in games = meh
Seriously, Valkyria Chronicles is on of the top 3 games on PS3.
$20?!? ARE YOU SERIOUS?!?
THIS GAME IS AMAZING! :D
Purchased. Much obliged, Jimbo, I've been waiting for a precisely this sort of moment.
I'm buying a PS3 for this game. That's right, for this one game.
Please tell me it's not a mistake...
Out of stock
The 3 Wal-Marts in my city are out of stock... I'm very sad. =(
It's tempting, at that price, to buy it again and give it to someone as a gift or something.
Incredibly Proud Owner of Valkyria Chronicles since 30/10/2008.
I remember putting it in my PS3 for the very first time, The best time I've ever had with my PS3.
Including MGS4, and I'd buy a used condom if it said Metal Gear Solid on it.
That's how good Valkyria Chronicles is...
Sigh, I guess I'll buy one of the best must-have PS3 games for only $20...if I have to...
I guess I'm more annoyed by having to go to Wal-Mart to get this deal.
freefall - buy it for valkyria chronicles, stay for disgaea, uncharted, Ratchet and Clank, Little Big Planet, MGS4, blurays etc...
Bought it at full price when it was relatively new... But anyone with a PS3 (or planning to pick up a PS3 as a result of the recent price drop) should definitely look into it.
OR
you can buy it for me and ship it off to me the week of Nov.30th. Seeing that'd be an awesome B-day present for my soon to be PS3.
Thanks for the tip. I think I may actually have enough financial leeway at the moment for this now at that price.
Bought it, got stuck at the battle against the massive tank, started playing something else which required less...strategy...will go back to the massive tank assault in due time.
God dammit. Only thing that has it is a Walmart 30 miles away =/. And I'm finally probably getting a PS3 too.
Great f'n game.
This actually seems really clever on Sega's part, it looks like they're beating out preowned games by scaling down the price over time. That way people will keep choosing new copies over used ones and sending their money Sega's way instead of gamespot's.
I just suck at strategy games.
What? When did the PS3 get games? :P
Once I cave and get a PS3(it's inevitable, quite a few games I actually want to pick up after the price drop) I'll pick this up. But until then... I just have a Standard Def TV and an empty bank account :D
I've owned it since launch and still haven't played it much. I keep hoping for trophies with the DLC they've released and it hasn't happened yet. I think I'm gonna have to just breakdown and play it already...
