Chances are, if you are like me, a fighting game fanatic, you played quite a few fighting games way back when.. Street Fighter II , Mortal Kombat , and Killer Instinct . It's been a while since Killer Instinct hit the shores of consoles. Last time it was for the Nintendo64 with Killer Instinct Gold. When Rare was bought out by Microsoft quite a few fans cheered not because of games like Banjo and Perfect Dark could be realized for the next-gen but because there was a glimmer of hope that Rare would get off their asses and create another installment in the once proud series. Well the time may be at hand as XboxKings.com has put up some interesting information by way of EGM's latest issue./July 08. Here's a snippet from the magazine. 
Hell YES. I don't know about you guys, but I'm officially excited. Just make sure my man Fulgore is back and I'm good Rare. Now I have a game that I really want for the 360 aside from Alan Wake.

Twould seem this is backing up the prior rumor. I don't fucking recall the rumor saying anything pertaining to Rare actually working on Killer Instinct . Just a vague innuendo.
That is my ultimate hope for e3 this and every year. I know it's probably never going to happen but I still hope.

Oh yeah, TJ Combo is out of retirement and ready to kick ass and maintain negative stereotypes all over again.
I think the graphics did it for me a lot more back then also. The pre-rendered 3D sprites looked wonderful for the time, but haven't really held up over the years. Donkey Kong Country comes to mind. However, I think KI redone in modern graphics (not pre-rendered 3D, but ACTUAL 3D!) would still be awesome and totally worth playing. Too bad it's a 360 exclusive, I don't really have it in me to buy another current-gen console. :(
But I'm skeptical. I mean, KI was good in 2D, but I can't imagine the same speed and mechanics in 3D. It'd most likely be completely different from the original, so it just ends up being a new fighting game using old familiar characters. So I can't really be that excited.
It is a shame cuz I did love Killer Instinct1 when it came out, even loved it when it came dumbed down for the SNES, KI2 also kept the tradition but lost some of the... not so sure what to even call it, but it lost some quality that only the 1st one had. and now, I for sure will not get a 360 to get a game that might suck monkey balls.
Seriously what are the chances Revival Instinct or w/e they call it can make a come back with the quality it had over 10 years ago.
Yet still, a glimmer of hope remains...
