Apparently there was a chain letter
esque blog started by our own Silver Dragon that was unleashed earlier and given extended life by another community
member. So curious I was by the titles of said blogs, that I awoke from my blogging slumber to partake in the spreading of this infectious theme so that others too would pick up the blogging baton and let us know a bit more about themselves. But before that can be initiated further fellow readers, let me divulge a few things about myself first ... to be exact ten things you don't know about this bearded gaming samurai.
10. I paid someone to stand in line and purchase my 60gig PS3 day one.
Seeing as the last thing I want to do in the world is wait in line for
anything, that includes free stuff, I went the avenue of paying a poor friend of mine to wait in line for me and purchase my console. I know some of you may think I'm not as hardcore as those that physically were waiting in line themselves but I find no charm in freezing my testicles off in a line from here to Zimbabwe. For those that endured the cold, the mass of people and general discomforts of the act itself, all I have to say is: LOL.
9. I play video games everyday.
Let me reiterate. I play video games every day. There isn't a day that passes that I don't play a video game. If you're on my friends list online, you will see two things: I'm either playing something or just got off a few minutes ago. How people consider themselves gamers when they haven't logged on to their game console for 14, 22, or 45 days is beyond me. I love to blog but I love to play games more.
8. I love Tequila.
I feel that if you are going to drink, why play around with beer and other inadequate alcoholic beverages? Drink tequila until you're shitfaced. In the next PAX which I am going to, my plan is to have a shot of Tequila with everybody from Dtoid I meet. Regardless whether they want to or not. I'm looking at you Dtoid staff!
7. I don't get MMO's...
Never did. I don't get how people lose their marbles over games like World of Warcraft. Any game that I pay for that asks me to keep paying month in and month out will never net any interest from me. I don't care how great it may be or how brilliant the content, if I have to constantly pay for it, it's rubbish. Honestly I have seen people play the game and just don't get it. I may be missing something but then again I don't see why people pay for online play in games either.
6. My favorite game of all time is Front Mission 3 for the PS1.
I played the hell out of that game and occasionally turn to it whenever I find myself nostalgic for super awesomeness in gaming. If you haven't played this game I encourage you to seek it out and play it. From it's strategic battles, to its ridiculous customizations, to its facsimile in game internet where you could get email and order parts from questionable sources, this game had it all long before others incorporated some of its successful parts. Front Mission 3 just rules. This was when the name Square meant something in the gaming world. Unlike now where their best games are re-releases of past gems.
5. I'm a t shirt whore.
I love t shirts. I couldn't even begin to tell you how many gaming t shirts I own and I still can't get enough. If you ever want to get on my good side, any kind of t shirt sent my way will cement you in good standings with me. Also Ron, I want that Cashwhore shirt you owe me bitch. Yeah I just called you out like that!
4. My gaming guilty pleasure is Bejeweled 2.
I have it for my PC. I have it for my 360. And now I have it for the PS3. I love this game and when I start playing it I lose myself in it. I couldn't tell you why I love it so, just that it's simple brain candy. Easy to play, easy to get into and hard to pry away from. Many people hate it, I can't get enough of it.
3. I'm Puerto Rican.
Which also means I'm a bilingual shit talker and can, at a drop of a dime, sound like I have an accent. Not only that but everybody knows all the cool kids in Destructoid are of Spanish pedigree. It's a known fact that Spanish people are the best gamers in the world. We're born with a tan, have no trouble at all growing beards, and can out drink anybody under the table.
2. Additional Information about me.
I was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. I'm a diehard Jets, Knicks, and Yankees fan because of that. I reside in good ol' North Carolina where I enjoy fishing ( I have a pond stocked with catfish ), having golf cart races with my sons, and the leisure art of going to flea markets. I collect chess boards and have a robust collection that I add to whenever possible. I love movies of all genre ( my movie library is quite nice ), McRibs, and massive amounts of starch.
and finally...
1. Don't tell anyone but I kinda have a thing for Destructoid.
I fucking love this place. I don't think I'll ever tire of everyone here.
Awesome. I totally want to do shots of tequila and go fishing with you.
I also am a t-shirt whore but I hardly ever buy any. I see awesome t-shirts in stores all the time and think, "Hmm. Either this or video games..."
Pretty good stuff, and I too play games every day. Right now, I keep playing Persona 4 every day, even though I have beaten it and have seen all the endings.
I am also of Hispanic heritage, but I do believe I am better than you because I am of Mexican origin. Oh and you forgot one other thing:
11. You suck in every multi-player game imaginable against Mr. Sadistic
Oh yeah, I went there.
Tequila FTW :D
Destructoid <3's you too Yojimbo!
What part of Brooklyn did you live in? I didn't know that.
Whats up Jimbo? Long time no see! Dude, add me on PS3 again. I just tried out Resistance 2 the other day and loved it, and you know I'll be around when Killzone 2 comes out.
Also, fuck tequila. Bacardi 151 all the way.
The More Yojimbo
Hey Yoj1mbo, do you think Puerto Rico should ever apply for Statehood?
"Not only that but everybody knows all the cool kids in Destructoid are of Spanish pedigree. It's a known fact that Spanish people are the best gamers in the world. We're born with a tan, have no trouble at all growing beards, and can out drink anybody under the table."
I love you for this...
Would you play Emma missions or Alisa?
This is why I consider you a friend Yojimbo. I guess I'm the next for the ten things bridge jump.
#0 - They smell a bit funky under their arms.
Ah, nice to see another Yojimbo blog! =D Haven't seen one for a while, and also, nice to learn some new things about you and such! While you are a chess board collector, are you also a chess fan? o_O Hahaha! I look forward to meeting you good sir at PAX!
Hey Yojimbo .... when are we going to have those shots of tequila together we keep talking about man???
Nice to see you blogging again, especially when it's something inspired by me. :-)
hispanics are better gamers = FACT
I love these blogs. Everyone should do them.
These are entertaining blogs I must say.
Have you played Front Mission 4? I got that last year, and it was totally worth it. It sounds like I might have to get my hands on 3 as well. But the one I really wanna play is 5. Even though it never came to America, it sounded like it was the best in the series. Also, what ever became of the North Carolina Narp Emailer? I never heard anymore from that!
Ballistic and Jesus:
You guys should be receiving some info soon on the NC NARP. Be on the lookout my friend as its happening fo sho!
Fuck yes tequila. Fuck yes Front Mission 3. Fuck yes this blog. Fuck YES YOJIMBO!:D
your secret is safe with me
and Fuck yeah Tequila mofos
its the nectar of the cods
Two of my best friends from college have a Puerto Rican father.
I'm gonna have to get to that Narp. I have no way to do it, but I'll start hitchhiking now if I have to!
New York you say!! I was also born in New York. In Peekskill actually, and my grandmother also happened to be Puerto Rican. The more of these I read the more tempted I become to do ne of my own. It's nice to learn a little more about the community I frequent.
Like I say in IRC, the only reason Jimbo plays games is because his bones are too brittle to get out of his rocking chair to do anything else.
I'm just kidding, we all love you.
Also, to scratch his whiskers, he pokes his arm back through his shirt sleeve and out the neck hole first.
Also, damn you. I don't know if I'll ever be able to afford it, but you're making PAX a priority for me.
welcome back.
Yeah, you are a T-shirt whore... But without the T and the shirt. You're just a ho fo' sho'.
North Carolina was the first place in the USA I went to. Managed to see Raliegh, Durham, Wilmington and Asheville. It's a lovely place.
I am a t shirt whore as well, sir.
Tequila is on my to try list ( I just recently turned 21) if ya got a good brand let me know. Good write up too.
I've read every one of your c-blogs.
If it's a shot of Patrón, and you're buying, then yes. Otherwise, no -- let's just say that tequila is my kryptonite.
amen #1.
Honestly, if I had the money to spare, I don't see anything wrong with paying someone to stand in line for you. Time is money.
Front Mission 3 is like a slice of fried gold. Shame the DS remake of FM1 is atrocious.
I was surprised you didn't mention SOCOM in this blog but then I realized everyone knows you are obsessed with that game.
I think the fact that you made someone else do your bitch work is quite awesome. In fact this whole post kind of rules. If you like t-shirts have you seen shirt.woot.com? At one point they actually had a shirt that has the a-z of video games. I'll have to take a picture of it for you and post it.
Also, I agree with the MMO thing...I have seen friendships end over the life sucking soul eating power of these games.
