My friend who owns Rock Band loves the DLC because it's good quality stuff. He's never said anything about downloading something twice so I don't think it's a huge deal.
I think that is in reference to the ability to get a songpack or the songs in the pack seperately.
the DLC on rockband is epic, but i agree that the ability to download a song 2x (if you buy the bundle, teh single song is still unpurchased) is really unacceptable. i'd imagine them to refund you if you made the mistake, but seriously, thats some lazy coding right there.
Keep in mind that may attribute to why they set up the store via the actual game itself, since in the ingame store you can't repurchase a song singular if you purchased it in the pack.
Even though it's technically possible to purchase the same song twice, with the latest update to Rock Band including the Rock Band store, it now lets you know that you've already purchased a song when browsing through available content. But they'll never block the ability for 2 reasons. 1, don't make economic sense to block the sale of something. 2, for the people that buy the single first, and eventually buy the pack later. Blocking out the purchase of the pack can result in forcing people to pay more than they could have, rather than it just being an option to pay more.
So was the in-game store an answer to this maybe down the road, so many packs and individual tracks? It may not make economic sense, but if the internet downloaded to many multiples it could be a harsh mistress.
Back to the other part: is there such thing as too many songs?
