The first time I played I chose being with Ash. For some reason her being an aggressive, controlling bitch really made me happy in the pants. But yeah, it took me around 20 hours for me to beat. I did maybe, a couple of side quests. I still haven't done the majority of the game and I'm on my second play through and I'm still enjoying it.
Well... since I'm without a 360, I'll be waiting for this one to come to PC sooner or later, so I haven't even played it yet, but 14 hours seems a bit short. Did you rush through and skip ALL the side quests? I've been known to do the same thing with a new game... and if it's worth a couple more plays through then that's even more game time.
I'm playing the Witcher on PC at the moment and I've already put 14+ hours and I'm only on act 2/5. I've been doing a lot of side quests, but still, that's the length I expect out of a good RPG, but I don't expect I'd play through The Witcher again.
So far I've played zero hours, and it really fucking sucks.
All the sidequests and exploration do add to the playtime quite a bit. I did almost all of them, explored every planet and ended up taking about thirty hours to finish the game.
So it's short as WELL as shit. Maybe I will go ahead and complete it before taking it back after all.
The game isn't shit at all, it's awesome. I completed a small amount of the sidequests. Maybe 2 or 3 in each different place. Quite short though still, the main storyline only really spans across 5 planets.
I didn't get the achievement for being good or bad, so I'm being bad until I get the achievement, than nice from than on so I can get that one. Not sure who'm I'll sex this time, I still think that blue thing is quite sexy.
Well, I'm gonna go out on a limb here....but I'd venture a guess that you stuck to the main story and did a few sidequests when you felt like changing things up. that is where you get your final time. I've been playing, exploring, raiding outposts and enjoying what the world around me. There is really such a ripe, engrossing backstory given through a lot of these SQs. Did you get one of the few achievements that says completed at least xx% of the game?
i couldnt see this being the case..far be it for me to tell anyone else how to best use what you buy with your money....I think you may have sold yourself short....maybe a speed run, or worked in unicen with the walkthrough guids (purchsed in stores, downloable from the net.)
too bad though, well, for you. theres a proverbial fuckload of that need to be done all over the gamaxy. im astonished that you were able to take down the entire game in a less than a day like setting. were you just cutting through dialogue hitting X? theres no way you could sat and spoke with many people that you can have an effect on them in 1 was or another.
I'm wring my next Blog about "The Mass Effect, Effect...hope you will enjoy it. It will be detailing the Hype Machine, what were told, what we expected, and unlimately we recieved. I think it might be up by wed, maybe tomorrow. All I know is I can't stop playing...Well, maybe once. But she didn't like it because I was like Prefontaine running through the winners tape. If onle Chariots of Fire were playing...
14 Hours? Really? You didn't do any side missions at all did you? You gotta check out some awesome side missions cause they're...awesome.
It was a good game, but as you said felt kinda short, I was personally hoping for another Baldurs Gate 60hr rpg fest, what I got was damn nice albeit shorter than anticipated.
Although I have found 1 problem, as soon as you get the master spectre weapons the game turns into a shooting gallery on normal, its like "Lulz dead geth everywhar!". Hopefully they put out a DLC or two with new systems, quests and planets (please god for free aswell).
I hope the DLC will be better than the DLC for Knights of the Old Republic.
Kotor dlc sucked
I love the game too...that said, it is a bit weak sauce to skip all the side quests, then complain about the game being short. I've put 14 hours in and I'm not anywhere CLOSE to being done. Not being a dick, just saying it makes little sense to blow through a game like it's a time trial, then complain about length, eh?
I didn't skip through ANY dialogue, and I even restarted a few times to hear and see different options. I spoke to just about everyone for fun. I did some quests, like destroy the robot base on earth's moon and that package for that weird tall pink thingy, getting the memory chip off of a broken drone that was stolen by a space monkey. A few more but nothing as big as those.
I followed the main storyline cuz that's what interested me the most, it was amazing and intruiging. It was actually alot better thought out than I thought, it was a nice rush =] I'm gonna go through it again but this time do all the side missions I can get my hands on. Hopefull I'll be able to get that damn "You've completed majority of the game with these people" so I can start it over again with a new character and do it AGAIN! XD

Sorry about triple posts, stupid IE.
@akathatoneguy
I didn't try to beat it like a time trial dipshit, why the fuck is everyone here so damn ignorant? I didn't feel like doing sidequests because there was no tie with them in the main storyline, they just add length to the game. I wanted to find out what the story was about so I just fuckin played it. I enjoyed every single damn minute of it and NEVER rushed. I walked through every single room twice to check if I missed a locker or terminal, stopped to fight everything, and got the most out of speaking with everyone that I could. Now that you have been enlightened, stop saying I tried to play through it as fast as possible
I'm about 33 hours in and I still haven't beaten it. Side quests add a LOT of time.
This thing is my game of the year so far.
@xerosnake90-
No need to get sand in your vagina about a couple simple little comments. You complain about people's ignorance, but display nothing but ignorance on your own part with your petty little insults. My point was that if you want the game to last longer, take the time to do more stuff. I can understand wanting to stick with the main storyline, but the title of your blog entry and your entry itself seemed to say that the length of the game was a letdown for you. All I'm saying is, don't complain that the game was short when you didn't do everything you could do in the first place. The side quests do tie into the main story as they provide backstory to the entire Mass Effect universe, give you more character interaction, etc. My bad if my time trial comment hurt your fragile feelings. I didn't realize you were so sensitive.
Someone didn't do any sidequests!!! I'm at 20 hours and I have quite a bit of game left I believe.
I got upwards of 30 hours my first run through, that was with basically every sidequest complete and most galaxies explored.
