- It's a first person shooter just like the console versions.
- Features some of the better 3D graphics on the DS.
- Appears to have a smooth framerate. (A first for the Halo series?)
- Halo DS wasn't a garage project by a two-man team, big names were involved.
- What Matt shows us is pretty old stuff, think 2005/2006.
- Control setup appears to be that of Metroid Hunters.
- Level featured is Zanzibar.
- No idea if Halo DS had a single player or was intended as a multi-player only game.
- Features dual wielding.
- Looks pretty faithful to the console versions even down to the sound effects & Halo theme.
- Not coming out for unknown reasons so keep playing Metroid Hunters.
From what I heard, the project was real, but it was never official. I think a third party developed it to a point to prove that it could be done, then they planned to pitch it to MS who then passed on it (for whatever reason).
Congrats to Matt to finally show everybody that his Halo DS fantasy is real. But let us be honest. Sure, there probably were some real developers working on this game, like people that work at Bungie. The developers did probably want to do something like this but there is no way that it would ever come close to coming to fruition. Microsoft would never let something like their signature series show up on their competitors handheld system.
Matt and everybody else can kid themselves and think that there was a chance for this game to actually get released, but they should know that it was never actually going to happen.
I think I just had a nerd-gasm. If that game actually came out, it would rocket the DS into even more godliness than it could handle. And I would love it.
It took this guy long enough. Back in the winter, this was the talk of DS and Halo fans. A lot of people were flaming Matt C and called bullshit. It's finally here and pretty much lives up to the hype. Where's the ROM for this damn thing??

Matt and everybody else can kid themselves and think that there was a chance for this game to actually get released, but they should know that it was never actually going to happen.
Too bad the powers that be canceled it.
