About
Welcome to Dtoid's Friday Night Fights for Xbox 360!

FNF is a weekly, community-run event where Dtoiders get together to play videogames online! Planning starts in the forums, followed by posts here in the cblogs and on the front page on Fridays. It's easy to get involved, so why not start today?!

<-- You can read the blog for more info, but here are the basics:

How to FNF

To Play
• Leave a comment in the blog or forum post with your Gamertag and which games from the schedule you want to play. More people will show up if they know other people are playing, so speak up!

• Send an Xbox LIVE friend request to the person hosting the game and let them know you're from Dtoid and you're ready to FNF!

To Host
• Leave a comment in this blog or the week's forum post listing game you want to play, the time you want to play it, and your Xbox LIVE Gamertag.

• Don't worry about hosting the same game or hosting a game at the same time as someone else. Instead, think of it like a movie theater; more than one game can run at the same time!

Still confused? Click here for a full guide to everything FNF!

So, my brother and I picked up Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare when it released a little over a week ago. We were enjoying the game quite a bit and decided that we wanted to play with each other. However, one of the most glaring flaw for a multiplayer game to have made it's appearance. That would be a lack of a party system. It baffles me how quite a few multiplayer focused games have omitted this feature. Without it, you have to struggle to find a room before fighting the switch team system just to be on the same side as your friend. It doesn't really make the game any more fun when you are having to jump in and out of rooms just to play with your buddy. God, I can only imagine trying to find a room with a few people.

However, that doesn't mean that Garden Warfare isn't a fun game! One of our hosted games is actually that very same game. So, give Strider a shout if you are interested! Now, on with the hosts!

Short post for me today.  John Apocalypse is back to host another game tonight and it's PayDay 2, which I know there are a few of you out there playing.  It involves scary, bank robbing clowns, sort of like Pennywise here, who scared the hell out of me as a kid until I found out it was Tim Curry.  Yes.  Tim Curry.  The guy from Home Alone 2.  The guy from Rocky Horror Picture Show.  It wasn't as scary after I found that out.

Anyway, enjoy the game!

I'm sorry.  I meant we have ONE Xbox game being played.  Two, really, by the same person so I'm making it count as one so I can go with the title that I have and have it make sense.

In other news, I think SuperMonk got sucked into a jet turbine.  Either that or he ignored my Valentine's Day tweets.  Oh well.

Enjoy tonight's games!  And thanks, again, to Char Aznable for hosting tonight!

Since no one is hosting any games I think I can safely assume you're all doing something for Valentine's Day.  So that means there probably won't be a massacre anywhere online.

But since I've been married now for eight and a half years I figured I would give y'all some pointers to have a really great Valentine's Day*:

-Move Valentine's Day to February 15 and don't tell her.  Not only will is surprise her the day after, but flowers, cards and candies are half off, if not more.  She'll fall in love with your frugality.

-Ignore her or go out with friends.  Absence makes the heart grow fonder so use this an an opportunity to get her to fall in love with you over again.

-Show her other women that are interested in you.  This can be done through texts, social media, messaging services, Craigslist or the local classifieds.  It'll let her know you're a keeper.

    Have a great Valentine's Day!

*Obviously, don't do any of the above.  Bad times lay ahead if you do.

80's Movies.  All Night Long.

I don't really have a whole lot to say this week.  As I'm writing this, on Thursday, I'm at home sick for some reason.  My son had strep throat the other day so I'm probably fighting that off or the fact it was 85 degrees a few days ago and yesterday and today its been in the 40's and 50's is wreaking havoc on my immune system.
Either way with me being home with time to kill I was able to try out a little bit of my GIMP/Photo editing abilities (which is none right now).  Since Char Aznable is hosting multiple games I figured I would try my hand at some easy stuff, later on I may through the Destructoid Robot head on some stuff.  Who knows.  I'm just trying to figure out what all the buttons do at the moment so it may take a little longer to do this.  To Hell with the manuals and how-to's.
And welcome back PanaMusica to the FNF scene!  He's bringing back one of the favorites from back in the day so jump on and play some Battlefield 3!  I traded my copy in at GameStop for around $2.

    Enjoy the FNF!

Welcome back to another fun night of Fights on Friday Night!  We have a newcomer tonight, John Apocalypse, hosting Lara Croft and the GoL.  It a pretty fun game.  I got it when it released but now it's free guys! (Get it here:  Xbox Marketplace)  So why not pick it up and play it was new Dtoider?

On another note, I figured I would just write a little something about nostalgia since my birthday is on February 27 and I'll be 31 and I feel old now. Go ahead and write that down on your calendars. I'll expect a gift later. Anyway, Dtoider Timnoldzim wrote a cool little blog (Read it here) about gaming commercials and a lot of them were from my days as a kid. Of course I got all nostalgic and looked at a lot on YouTube after that. A few days later my wife got me an early birthday gift of the Legend of Zelda cartoon series on DVD. At school, on Fridays, my friends and I would be antsy all day about getting home to see the show. It was better than the Mario cartoon. Of course, looking back on it, they were both horrible shows but I love watching them still. It's just fun.

So with that blog and the DVD I got all nostalgic and thought about other gaming stuff from my childhood days and one thing really got me thinking: breakfast cereals. Man those things were good. The licensing really brought out the taste. I'm sure Bill “Chilly” Platt still has boxes of those things laying around. I may do a whole fun blog post about that on my account later.

So with that being said, enjoy your gaming night! And still, we still haven't had a Xbox One host yet. Out of the 3 million people that bought one, I figured one person on Destructoid bought one.
