About
Welcome to Dtoid's Friday Night Fights for Xbox 360!

FNF is a weekly, community-run event where Dtoiders get together to play videogames online! Planning starts in the forums, followed by posts here in the cblogs and on the front page on Fridays. It's easy to get involved, so why not start today?!

<-- You can read the blog for more info, but here are the basics:

How to FNF

To Play
• Leave a comment in the blog or forum post with your Gamertag and which games from the schedule you want to play. More people will show up if they know other people are playing, so speak up!

• Send an Xbox LIVE friend request to the person hosting the game and let them know you're from Dtoid and you're ready to FNF!

To Host
• Leave a comment in this blog or the week's forum post listing game you want to play, the time you want to play it, and your Xbox LIVE Gamertag.

• Don't worry about hosting the same game or hosting a game at the same time as someone else. Instead, think of it like a movie theater; more than one game can run at the same time!

Still confused? Click here for a full guide to everything FNF!

I've been having a few issues with my computer.  It's a video card driver issue.  It makes my whole system freeze and I have to reboot in safe mode to figure it out.  Last time it did this I thought it was a bad master HDD that I had installed so I went to a single HDD.  The issue kept popping up and it happened again this week.

So my computer sat dormant for a few days until I had the time to install a fresh driver and hopefully fix it....this time for good.  This leads me to why I stopped PC gaming way back in 2001 and returned to console gaming- way too many issues.

Sure the games look prettier sometimes but I like being able to pop in a disc and play a game without having to sit through driver updates, working through compatibility issues or whatever else PC gamers have to do to play a game.

There's no games this week so I'm more or less just venting to write something.  Have a good weekend!

New to Friday Night Fights? It's easy to get involved!

Each week, a bunch of us Dtoiders get together to play videogames online! It's a 100% community-run event, so feel free to join in or even host something yourself!

The planning for FNF starts in the forums, where community members volunteer to host matches and post their pertinent details (game, time, Gamertag, etc.). Then, every Friday, reminder posts go up here in the cblogs followed by a recap post on the front page on the front page for last-minute planning.

To join in, simply send a friend request to the match host! (Don't forget to say you're from Dtoid!) If you'd rather host something yourself, just post your details below in the following format:

Game: Game Name
Host: Dtoid Username
Gamertag: Xbox Live Gamertag
Time: Time (Eastern please!)

We hope to see you online!

I suppose it is that time of the year. That time of the year when we are all jealous of the people that are currently living it up at PAX East. Playing all those games of the future, hanging out with all the cool peeps and waiting in all of those lines. Everyone goes to PAX for those lines, DAMN YOU LUCKY PAX GOERS. Well, for all of those that didn't get so lucky and aren't waiting in lines... we can wait in lobbies!

I know.  It's not Friday.  That's why it's titled “Early Edition.”  Stay with me here for a minute and I'll explain why there's FNF blog on a Monday.

One thing that has always made me scratch my head about Destructoid is how the site is split up into different sections- forums, front page, c-blogs- and how those sections rarely intermingle.  So after doing the Xbox FNF blog post for a while I learned that FNF is mainly a forum thing.  Every once in a while I would do a post and someone would post in the comments about playing a game but more than likely I was already at work and couldn't update the post, leaving their effort to host a game in vain.  Posting it on Friday also gave c-bloggers and front pagers a few hours to get plans together to play a game before the main FNF post went live.

So that leads me into why I'm doing it early.  I'm opening this up to c-bloggers and front pagers.  Don't want to join the forums or venture downstairs to make a post?  No problem.  Post what you want to play in the comments and I'll update the post to include you guys.  I hope this works and have fun gaming!

It has been a while since we've heard about the infamous Friday Night Fights banner... until now. An in progress picture was posted earlier this week with impressive results! I can easily say that I am very impressed with how well everything is coming together. Now, I know we have all been eager to see the finished project but I personally continue to ask for your patience. Mikey has been going through some rough times and he is just trying to get through life, just like the rest of us. The fact that he has continued to work on this while dealing with issues in his life speaks volumes to me. We love you buddy, keep up the awesome work.

WHERE ARE THE GAMES?! TELL ME!

We had a good week last week for the Xbox side of Friday Night Fights.  We had a few 360 games hosted and two Titanfall games were hosted for the Xbox One side but no games tonight. But,  I did work a spring training game last night that had this cool Xbox One truck out with a few demos in the back.  It wasn't really anything too impressive but just cool that it was out there.

On another note, I attended my first NARP/ Dtoid function last Saturday at Player One Bar in Orlando and had an absolute blast.  I finally got to put a face to some people from the site, such as Everyday Legend, Kymiloco and, of course, your FNF Community Manager Bill "Chilly" Platt.  They're all awesome people and it really hit home how great of a place this site is.  If you haven't yet attended one, I would try to.  There will definitely be more in my future.

So, even though there isn't an official game being hosted tonight, I'm sure there will still be some Dtoid folks on there playing so join in!

After four months, it has finally happened ladies and gentlemen... we finally have an Xbox One game being hosted for this week's FNF! It should be no surprise that Titanfall is the first game to finally break the streak of no XBONE games being up for play. Hopefully we can look forward to more games in the future for the still young console. Don't have an XBONE? Don't worry, Char Anzable has you covered with a session of Earth Defense Force 2025. So kick back, relax and have some fun sci-fi shooting fun this Friday night.
