So I never though it would happen... but the other day.... it did So I went over to my friends house the other day because he just got a new ps3 and wanted me to try out LBP so I went over there. Now, before I go on... let me say i used to be all about ps2 I always got games for that first and ps2 was kinda the generic answer to any video game related question. (kinda like how "coke" is any soda or "nintendo" used to be that back in the NES days.) Ok anyways, moving on so now that I only have an xbox 360 the xbox has become my new generic video game name. I didn't think anything of it, It seemed normal because that's the only system I had.
I WAS WRONG
When I was going through the first LBP tutorial level it said something along the lines of "press x to do this" so without thinking, I started pressing what I thought was "X" on the ps3 controller... after about 5 presses of nothing happening, I looked down and almost had a heart attack... that was no X at all!! It was the Square button!! It was a startling revelation... I realized that the xbox 360 controller had become the official controller in my brain that was second nature! This was a crazy because even though I hadn't played the ps2 or ps3 all that much since my 360.. I still figured it was second nature and I could play it whenever I felt like.. NOPE!
Haha actually the only reason why I never had a problem with the Xbox controller is because it was the same lay-out as the Dreamcast controller. Going by the colours would cause problems though. Actually, a major reason why I sometimes struggle with the SNES controller is because the letters of the buttons are complete opposite to that of the Dreamcast's. But as long as I go by memory and not by on-screen cues, I'm fine.
I never had a problem like that with controls, I memorized the layout of every controller the moment I get it. Also, the xbox has not "won" whatever the hell that means.
I have memory slots for button placement in my brain.
I might not be good at the game If I switch from 360 to PS3, because the controllers feel different, but if the Screen says Press X, then I'll press X in the respective places of both controllers.
The only time I've gotten confused was my first time playing the DS. I didn't realize I was pressing Y and thinking it was A. I felt sad and old after wards, and I was only 14...
my friend rented a ps3 to play MGS4 (hes a xbox fanboy) adn as i was beside him playing tf2 on pc i heard him curse several times, i asked him why and he responded that the game was broken. it turned out that he was just pressing the square button and wasn't able to do anything because of that.
also @woverine - shut the fuck up ''the xbox has won people, don't fight it'' you fuckin dumbass.
Hey, grats to you. I still have trouble because since the SNES's XABY is forever burned into my brain. Bonus points if you have a Dreamcast and Xbox too!
yeah, im actually mad at my self for liking the 360 so much. who would of thought that Microsoft with its terrible hardware development (RROD), would still be the console of choice for the core gamer.
When my 360 red ringed a while back, I almost had a mental breakdown trying to adjust to the Dreamcast controller. Not only is the thing fuckin' huge and awkward in your hands, but the colors are all different.
I never have a problem with this, but when my friends come over and we play 360 games, I have to tell them to press Square, or circle, or triangle, or A. Because if I say X or Blue, they are going to look down and wonder if I'm referring to the standard PS button blue x or the xbox confusion blue x.

I had trouble with the DualShock's controller as well. It took a while for me to remember where the buttons were.
That is what i was like before i got xbox. Only i played nintendo before that.

I hope you learned your lesson young man! Now go to your room and think about what you did.
I do this with my DS too. It's pretty much ass backwards from the 360 controller.
