Some of you may have seen Sterling's news yesterday about
FigurePrints, the company making 1:18th scale statues out of your WoW character. [
more] Well, being the unfettered dork that I am, I made
a comic about it. Stop rolling your eyes dammit.
GU Comic for 12/14/2007: "Naked Bloodelf in 1:18 Scale"
I read about the folks at FigurePrints a couple of weeks ago, but the site was not yet active. Now that it is all I have to do is learn to wait patiently until I get a chance to buy one myself. See, demand for these statues is so high right now that you have to win a drawing to be one of the folks who can pay to have their character produced in 1:18 scale.
Now, I asked the guys at FigurePrints a few questions as I was preparing to do this comic.
And, from the information I received, FigurePrints expects to accept several hundred orders in the "first batch". They have four of the machines that make the "prints" and are currently exploring ways to ramp up capacity. But, I also inquired about their policy regarding quests for
characters sans armor. They had this to say, "we haven't received guidance from Blizzard so far on this topic so I'm assuming for now that people can print what they want".
Now, I am interested in having my WoW character Grek turned into one of these statues. But, despite the comic, I'm not interested in having him sitting around my desk au naturale. How can one withstand the advancing minions of the evil dust bunny armies in a little, leather speedos? There is an answer to that question... but that's an entirely different comic.
Might get one of thse done up for a friend of mine.
