Honestly, the Gamecube was much better.
Jesus Christ, can you atleast try and not butcher literature.
Then you haven't lived yet, or maybe a very sheltered life, if your biggest regret in life is buying a videogame machine.
And to OP:
1: Does that really matter? That you have to blow two more seconds to save a game?
2: Um... No they don't. Try getting into the store if you aren't signed in. And how much simpler can they make the wiiware store than with big fucking buttons that tell you what you want to see?
3: Friend Codes are stupid. But, you don't need them to play online. You do if you want to buddy up with the same 3 people, but they do have a random play mode, and much like live or psn, you don't need to know them in order to play them.
4: Am I the only one who could give two shits less about an in game Menu? And duuurrrr Wii already has one. I only use my "xmb" to turn my system off, mute someone, or snitch on someone for being a gigantic dick.
Your points have been said time and time again, and they are still as void as the first 200 times I heard them. If you don't like the Wii, sell it to someone who will use it.
p.s. You can play all of you old GC on the wii, so the argument that the GC is better is also pointless and retarded.
Good Day Sir... I SAID GOOD DAY!
After No More Heroes I have not touched any new Wii games (well House of the Dead). My girl friend wanted it sooooooo bad so we bought it and she hasn't used it in like 4 months.
Porn.
Brawl, Metroid Prime 3, Galaxy, No More Heroes, RE: UC, Blast Works, Metal Slug Anthology, Mario Kart Wii, Wario Ware, Geometry Wars Galaxies, both Trauma Centers, Zack and Wiki, Zelda, Okami, RE4:Wii, Lost Winds, Elebits... and that's just off the top of my head.
Sure, if you don't like any of those games, I could see why the console is a let down for you. But if you are like me and you think all those games kick enormous amounts of ass, then it's a different story.
Do you not like those games I listed, or have you just not played them yet?
Keep in mind, this is from a guy who considers the N64 to have the worst game library in the history of home consoles, so if you are an old fan of that system, then that may explain why why I love the Wii and you don't.
Brawl: Eh. It's okay. IMO too many characters are overpowered; maps are boring and the creator is really really bad.
MP3: Didn't like MP1, everyone said 2 was better, so I bought 2. Hated that as well. Not goin for a third one.
Galaxy: Pretty good. Best platformer of 07, but thats not saying much.
No More Heroes: <3
REUC: Meh. On rails is iffish.
MSA: Yay <3
MKWii: Dammit, I can play this on SNES, n64, gamecube, gba, and ds. I dont need another one. bikes or not, NO.
Wario Ware: Minigames = :(
GWG: :]
TC1/TC2: Got boring after a couple missions IMO. I personally prefer the DS ones.
Zack And Wiki: Didn't play.
Zelda: I could rant for ages about this game. It was fun, but wayyy to freakin easy. Zelda games have been WAYYYYYYY to easy since like Majora's Mask; and even thats pushing it. Either give me a normal length zelda thats really hard, or a really long Zelda thats easy.
Okami: Liked it on the ps2. Liked it on the Wii.
RE4Wii: Yay, I guess. controls suck though.
Lost Winds/Elebits: didn't play.
My main problem is, is that the Wii has a library thats mostly reiterations of old series, ports of ps2/gcn games, or mini game collections. I want more new stuff, like Zack and Wiki, No More Heroes... That stuff. Not this crap they're throwing at me now.
You're right on the money with Nintendo not giving a rats ass about pleasing the hardcore gamer with their OS. I mean, why would they? It's a shame, but Nintendo is being rewarded for not caring about stuff like XMB and their online store being a slow load, etc. They are on top in a way they haven't been in a long time, and I've been told by NoA higher ups that that NoJ attributes this in no small part to their "easier and safer" OS and online services.
The Wii is a step up from the Gamecube in terms of taht stuff, but it's still a far cry from what the 360 and PS3 have to offer. Until the people who care about such things outnumber (and outspend) those who don't, this is the way Nintendo is going to go about it.
It's enough to make a grown man frown.
I love all my systems. And for it's part, the Wii never breaks, never tells me it can't read a disc, never crashes, has a clean interface in terms of selecting what you would like to do and what games you'd like to buy.
It's a decent little system with some truly great games and some great ideas. It could be far better though.
But I'll take what I get. I certainly don't regret buying one. After all, it had Super Mario Galaxy, which is my favorite Mario since SMB 3.
I was saying the same stuff you guys said as I was reading this.
There are things wrong with it, but, I don't sit here fuming about how I can't order a pizza while in game while setting up a voice chat with a friend to complain about how I can't order a pizza in-game.
While all the connectivity stuff is pretty nifty on the 360, its not the reason I enjoy playing the system often.
For me, it comes back to games. And as Mr. Holmes points out, there's a good number of solid (if short lived experience) titles for the console.
Well, most of you complain of no XMB. Why should i need one? really, if i press the "Home button" it shows me anything i need
Storage Capacity? Let me ask you something, if ou are all waiting for nintendo to release a USB hard drive, why don't you just buy a 2 Gig SD card and stick it to the Wii, just like a Memory Card. I don't remember nobody complaining about Memory Cards
The Shop, just like Free Touch said, it can't be more simple. You just get some points, select a game and then 2 buttons that are bigger than the game screenshot itself say "Yes" or "No" even a retarded monkey knows that "Yes" mans that you want the game and "No" means that you don't
Games... meh, i love Wii games, why do you ask if we still play Super Smash Bros Brawl? of course we do, it's a great game. It just does not ripe like an apple, you can still play it if you want. and the list gets more interesting, just as Jonathan said.
Casual stuff, let's admit it, we all love at least one of those, i want My Pokemon Ranch, so what? i Like Pokemon.
That said, i like my Wii, i love Nintendo Franchises and i'm sure Nintendo will keep on surprising us on years to come (if they already released all their most popular IP on Wii, something big is coming)
