PAL Rock Band to be all about the Choices...
WeAreTheLolocaust | 5:19 AM on 04.08.2008 20 comments

When Rock Band was released States-side the in-box peripherals were found to be faulty in certain batches. The guitar didn't work correctly for some, and the drum kit broke for others. This meant that many were left high and dry as stocks were too low to issue replacement copies.

Well, over here we get the choice. The game is going to RRP as £49.99 (£39.99 normal price) and the peripherals will sell seperately for £129.99 (£119.99 real money). But no sign of bundle at all. So finding both parts will be the challenge, although we at the Lolocaust expect some retailers to offer bundle deals on the two seperate items, Game and Gamestation in particular. On top of the peripheral bundle the guitar will sell seperately for about £50 and the drums separately for roughly £60. No price yet for the mic.

As Gemsi rightfully pointed out earlier, the game is due for a May 23rd release, exclusively on XB360 (for now).

What? What's this normal price you speak of? Also did you just pull this out your ass or did you have sources? If you did kindly list them otherwise no one will take you seriously.

Normal price is the price many retailers charge. The MSRP or RRP is a recommended price, and most 360/ps3 titles are RRP £49.99. It's rare to find them sold at that price, many wavering around the £37-£40 mark, so I refer to it as the 'normal' price, as the price you should pay, given the RRP is usually a tenner more.

Source was a friend in the industry, but it is also currently being reported on Eurogamer about now.

£180 is the price I was expecting everything to be... that doesn't mean it isn't bollocks! That's more than double the price it costs in the US!

It'll probably be cheaper to import a US Rockband bundle and buy the game on its own over here and sell the US copy.... talk about rape

Oh totally. I am personally hoping that some retailers offer a bundle of the Solus game and peripherals for about £130, but we shall have to wait and see. I am prepared to be raped, but I won't be all Susan George about it though.

Most retailers sell ps3/360 games for £40-50 I think you will find. Still its at least £40 more than what it would cost for the american bundle Im with Anus on this one.

@ Razerangel - If you don't find them cheaper then you need to shop around.

With the possible exception of CoD4 there is not a single game in the top ten of either format which commands more than £39.99 where I work.

Do you shop at Marks and Spencers for your games?

ok guys chill out! Price depends on format and where you go to buy games from. On average new release 360 games cost between £35 and £40 whereas PS3 games cost between £40 and £50 probably something to do with the blu rayz but even then sometimes new PS3 games come out cheaper it's all a bit random sometimes...

I'm hoping for a decent Rockband bundle as well but £130 means that you'll be getting the game for free which I doubt anyone will do so my guess is around £150 for the bundle :-(
Either way I want the PS3 version so I'm going to have to wait longer anyway booooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!

Yeah, it seems VERY odd about the lack of other formats, but ultimately I assume they may be staggering releases to try and meet demand, much like the launch of consoles.

I heard that it's just a timed exclusive for the 360 at the moment which explains the lack of other format release dates.

Whatever the reason, at that price I hope no one buys it because for fucks sake you can buy a goddamn wii or 360 arcade for that amount!

Oh ai, seems amazing that they can still get timed exclusives on a title that's available elsewhere on the other machines...

Do what i did...

IMPORT.

I have a PS3 and i knew that if i waited for the European 360 version i knew we'd get the shaft. And since im based in Ireland you can add another 10-15 euro onto that price just because...

Sadly 360 owners don't have the option for the game, but I guess the 'import for peripherals' concept should work well.

Although that said, isn't the multi-USB adaptor externally powered? So adapter would be needed.

Are all the individual instruments in the US going to be wireless?

If so, would it not make much more sense to buy them from the US, get a copy of the game in the UK and send a picture of yourself with the wireless instruments and a spare £25 to EA courtesy of the "Screw You!" department?

@Phazer:
The 360 instruments are all wired and I think only the guitars are wireless on the PS3 (although I may be mistaken on that one)

Also it seems that we don't save that much by importing because of shipping. Either way if you're going to get Rockband I hope you import anyway to get it because it comes to around the same price and if you can't I hope you boycott this because we need to tell EA to fuck right off with their prices.

@WeAreTheLolocaust: Nah man, when I go to a shop to buy games its either Game, Gamestation, HMV or Chips. Major chains and rarely do you see the games below £40 unless on offer.

I think the PS3 guitars are wireless but im entirely too sure about that, the 360 is definitely wired.

Triple now... :P

@razerangel - weird... perhaps the fact that I live in poverty stricken rural-land means we are charged a little less...

Either way, went out today, only saw three titles on the 360 over £40, one was CoD4, one was CoD4 C.E. and one was Devil May Cry 4 L.E.

The PS3 games were on average £38, none were more than £42 though...

@Scape - "This is a new high point for Europeans getting fucked" - I reckon this is why Europeans are famed lovers. "Them Europeans, always being fucked. Fucked in the morning, fucked in the shops, fucked at work..."
