Recently something new came from the grave, and I say new and from the grave because this something has been around for many many years, and is the grandfather of what we all play these days. This something is called Doom. And with it came the wonderful community, so wonderful that they made something to improve Doom called Skulltag.

What is skulltag? Well skulltag is a 3rd party mod for doom which brings doom I & II, Hexen, Heretic all to a new level. Ever wish DOOM had an ingame server browser? Or how about doom with 15 different gameplay modes? Or different skins to choose from in multiplayer that are more than just different colored doom marines? OR! what about taunts?!? :D well look no further skulltag has answered your prayers.

With the new version of skulltag, there are mountains of goodies added to doom, yet they still keep the old school hardcore feelings of doom; Fast, Chaotic, lots of shit to shoot. The two gameplay modes that I have fallen completely in love with in skulltag are invasion, and capture the flag. I will explain to you the amazing goodies that come with invasion.

Get the idea? Yes, thats hordes of monsters that you have to fight off online with other people, its quite simple and basic. But when you toss in the extra little guns, and then throw in a score board of who has the most kills, it can be quite an adventure. Especially when the big invasion arenas hold 200+ demons in them AT ONE TIME! Can you see it now? a hellfire of plasma balls and fireballs and rockets? Well actually try it out and trust me, it will be even better than what you imagined!



Invasion usually goes through about 6 or 7 stages on average, sometimes they will go a little higher. The first stage is usually a small handful of demons, the second stage increases the number and the type, etc etc. There are alot of modified demons from the doom universe in there as well, like a gigantic imp with balls of steel that explode your body when they hit you, things of that nature are plentiful in invasion mode ;D.

Now apart from invasion the other one I enjoyed was capture the flag. However theres not much to say about it because its capture the flag, with the speed & chaos of DOOM :D and thats all that needs to be said.

The other modes include various forms of deathmatch, which I'm sure you don't need me to explain how that plays out. If you played Doom I & II on nightmare with always run on, thats essentially deathmatch ;D.

Overall skulltag adds a whole new realm to the doom universe and its like playing serious sam while tripping on some bad batch of shrooms while your being mugged at gunpoint. I know it sounds insane and batshit crazy BUT ITS AWESOME!

-- To acquire skulltag, all you need is either Doom I & II :: simply go to skulltag.com and get the latest version. (If you got doom I & II through steam don't worry, skulltag will automatically detect the wads it needs to launch if its installed).

-- To grab Doom I & II simply go through steampowered and get it from one of the many id Software packs here!


and thats it! you should be good to go ;D. Oh! one more thing, you will go through your start menu to get the icons after you installed the game, I simply just dragged them to my desktop. WE WILL BE PLAYING THIS, THIS WEEKEND! >:D
