Some call me Volomon, some call me Elite Destroyer of Worlds, some call me Superman, and even still some call me for a midnight voracious ravaging ala ménage à trois.
Through all the naming of me Volomon, I yet stick to the modest identity as a PS3 fan.

One Two Three Four
Fill the room with friends you can use Join Session to do this. After you successfully do this or convince others to do this. You merely equip the Riot Shield and have someone shoot at it, then use One Man Army to switch to a weapon he switches to a Shield and you unload on him. Continue back and forth and you will get a huge amount of points.
Even better when there is a mounted machine gun near by.
Frankly I don't know what they were thinking with the Join Session thing. The party system before was fine even better than MW2. The rooms are easily filled because there's something wrong with the server filling the emptying rooms, I've seen matches with 2 vs 6 or 3 vs 6 and many other things. So you can imagine how easy it would be to have four more of your friends come in since the IW system doesn't fill it fast or sometimes not at all.
There are other factors too, like why allow the shield to continually give you points aside from the challenge, or assistance? Maybe this is a bug. Why let someone use One Man Army with the Riot Shield? Seems goofy to me.
I don't know what happened at IW but many of the balances of COD:MW are missing from COD:MW2, most would be controversial should I mention them but everyone would agree that a button that allows your friends to fill a lobby could be used for abuse. Almost every Prestige, every Title, every Emblem, has to be looked at with a suspicious nature due to the possibilities of cheating, and demeans anyone who achieves these things with honesty.
IW's failure to do a beta and check themselves has caused many things. Someone needs to hire some people to stand next to each dev, and whisper, "Your only a man". IW you are not perfect, don't make a game without checking it.
It's true, I was using a riot shield and someone put a Sentry to stop me and I absorbed most of the bullets and I went and disabled the turrent and threw a knife at the guy. I laughed, that guy was trash talking.
The biggest problem I have with "balance" is the clearly broken akimbo weapons (1887 in particular).
I was also hoping for a rebalance of weapon priority up close. Gun damage should amplify depending on the range between the targets. Suicide charges with the knife shouldn't be rewarded with a kill even after someone get 2-3 up close shots on the target that is charging.
I fully agree. I think that all multiplayer games benefit from having a comprehensive beta period. The use of cheats/glitches simply ruins a game and makes it no fun to play. I honestly can't think why devs would skip a beta nowadays. They have willing (and free) participants and a very good online system that is cheap and easy to use. It just seems lazy to not beta.
Lazy is the exact word. Though IW has been doing multi player game for years, and as you said, have a very good system, Activision probably thought 'what's the point? Millions will buy it anyway' In their eyes they saved money, whereas play testing and a beta phase would, potentially, bring more people into online MW2 and get more sales. yes you save in manpower, but you lose out in overall sales. 7 million is a gigantic number of sales in a week, unprecedented even, but why not maximise sales potential and ensure a online experience that is flawless? It was very lazy by IW not to do a beta, seeing as it tarnishes the good name of MW1 and drives more and more people away from the game. Like with Gears 2, which had nowhere near the staying power of Gears 1.
KZ2 benefited greatly from the beta, and is my most loved online game, even now, heck I loved how differently it played from other shooters, and the only major change was due to people's whining about the supposedly 'poor' controls.
Not only is exploit's like the one above prevalent MW2, but the general consensus is that it can be horribly unbalanced and that the new killstreaks actually break the online game. This was never an issue for me on MW1, when I started out I could go toe to toe with high level players, and when I was high level, low level players went toe to toe with me. Of course skill plays a high part, but never did I once feel like the game gave unfair advantages to my opponents. The influx of negativity about MW2 online has held me off a purchase and with the problems being highlighted, I'll never get MW2, I can most definitely live without it.
Every game has a beta. It's just that most aren't open to the public.
And I feel like I should emphasize this: You cannot rank up indefinitely using a riot shield. You simply cannot. You might get a few thousand experience from unlocking challenges, but the experience rewards for reflecting damage drop off sharply.
@Arkhon: Obviously every game has a beta. We meant public betas. Obviously private betas are not worth a shit when it comes to online multiplayer. How some companies think they can get away with testing their network code on the office LAN and think it will work as good worldwide is beyond me. Even if they use offices across the world, it still will not account for the amount of users and different network setups. Game studios should do public betas or GTFO. I get sick of paying $60 to test these games for them.
Fair enough. What I'm trying to say is that you can only get so much experience from using the riot shield. At most, you can rank up maybe two or three times. This isn't a glitch, it's not a bug, and it's not cheating or exploiting. The multiplayer was designed so that players would get rewarded for using the riot shield just as much as they would for using any of the other weapons. Complaining about this is like complaining about the challenge that gives you a thousand experience for surviving a fifteen foot fall. Or about ending a game by dropping a care package onto somebody.
@Arkhon Your wrong, the points are not awarded for the challenges, you get thousands per maybe 20 seconds. None of these points are for the challenges, if you managed to open a challenge it's extra. If you used a Riot Shield which you should have before you commented about it's use, you'd notice you get 500 for being a decoy, the game arbitrarily awards 500-1000 points for some reason. These are not for the challenges.
