Ok, so I recently ordered a new AC adapter for everyone's favorite console from amazon.com. $14.99 they asked for it. Sure, that seems reasonable. Well I get the package in the mail and open it up, and notice something odd about the packaging. ...wtf is a "Wu"? Bastards! Well, at least it works for the Wii...let's just hope my apartment doesn't burn down from using this... Also, here's the link if you'd like to buy one for yourself: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000PS58JA read more

Ok, so I was browsing the board game section at my local Walmart the other day, and when I got to the Monopoly section I noticed this beauty: Monopoly Electronic Banking Edition. Now before we go any further, I must say that of all the board games in existence, Monopoly is by far my favorite (well, that or Clue), so seeing this game filled me with happiness and dread at the same time. The first thing you will notice is that there is no paper money, but instead Credit Cards, and the bank is a calculator/credit card reader thing that manages your money. That seems cool, but the best part of Monopoly was swiping bills from the bank when my bro would go to the bathroom. I know this version may teach kids about credit cards (and using them to buy Disneyworld?), but the original taught us to NEVER leave your money sitting around unattended and how to quickly swipe money from others without them noticing, and I believe that is a much more valuable lesson. I do however see a big upside to using the electronic bank: Property now costs Thousands/Millions of Dollars! It's about damn time. You now get $2M just for passing go, sweet! BUT, the game is still not scaled properly. Like anyone can buy Disneyworld for $2.4M...except for maybe that guy from the Larry H. parker commercial. ..Which brings me to the next section: The Properties! Please disregard that exclamation point, as I am not so much excited as I am depressed. Instead of the original generic locations, they decided to use the board from the Here and Now version, so all of the original properties have been replaced by Real-Life locations from around the US. Boardwalk is now Times Square, Illinois Avenue is now Disney World, etc. Actually to tell you the truth, that's not such a bad idea. Fuck Connecticut Avenue, I own the Mall of America bitch! lol...ok, good job Miltion Bradley. I completely 180'ed my opinion of this in the span of 10 seconds. Next, the pieces. WTF! Where's the dog/thimble/iron/racecar/etc. Oh Noes! They went current and changed all the pieces, lame! You now have the option of: an Altoids Box, a handbag with a cat in it, a Baseball Cap, a Plasma (or LCD) Television, a Segway, and a Space Shuttle. They should've dropped the stupid handbag and went with a laptop, and instead of some shitty baseball cap made a Cell Phone. Oh, and the altoids box should've been an xbox (or generic game controller). But oh well, if they are going to change everything else, they might as well change the pieces too. All in all, the game looks like it could be fun. The electronic bank could help curb the rampant theft that has plagued the game over the years, and those opposed to the Free Parking Jackpot variant no longer have to worry about little Timmy landing on Free Parking when he's broke and then getting a shit ton of money and beating you with it...ah the memories. But anyway, I have not actually played the game, so what do I know? read more

...ok guys, the contest is finally over. For those of you who are unaware (or don't care), for the last 3 weeks there has been an ongoing contest allowing Destructoid readers to enter into a drawing once a day for 21 days leading up to the Halo 3 launch to win a brand new Halo 3 Legendary Edition. There was also a video game quiz that awarded bonus entries to the first person to answer them all correctly. At the conclusion of the entry period, 53 people had entered the contest and between them submitted 210 daily entries. Skeeter also managed to complete the quiz first awarding him 21 additional entries, bringing the total number of entries to 231. It should also be pointed out that Skeeter was also the only person to enter the contest each day from start to finish, giving him the best odds of winning with 42 entries. So here we are, Halo 3 has been released and the entrants are eagerly waiting to see who won. I recorded the drawing on both my camera and stickam, so hopefully I can get that uploaded here soon. I know there are a few who want to know the winner immediately, so here you go...the winner of the Halo 3 Legendary Edition is: . . (scroll down, I'm trying to build suspense) . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . FallenLord! (now get cracking on some CBlogs, lol) Congratulations man, and thanks to all that entered! And an extra special thanks to Skeeter for solving my quiz. And now, sleep. read more

First of all, thank you coonskin05 for showing us this article in your blog.
After reading over the 1up article, I discovered why they hated the Destructoid article so much...
It seems Destructoid isn't the only one featured in a videogame... read more

Ok, so I was just reading Mr. Sterling's fine piece on the upcoming Wii game "Zombie Massacre", and it reminded me of this idea that I had that should be embraced by the Video Game industry immediately. What is it you ask? Zombie Mode. Every game should have it, like, starting now. What is Zombie Mode? Simple, it is an additional game mode that replaces all of the npc's in a game with zombies. Just think, GTA...with zombies! Halo...with zombies! Resident Evil...with MORE zombies! And it doesn't stop there, Legend of Zelda, Street Fighter, Katamari Damacy, Barbie's Horse Adventures, all with Zombies! I dare you to tell me that this wouldn't totally rule. So, what do you think? I say we petition the major Publishers and demand that they start including a zombie mode on all future releases. read more
