Okay, so awhile back before my 360 took a shit on me I had a slight problem with RockBand. I was playing the world tour with my sister when we had a sudden urge to play a online match. So we exited the world tour and went to band quick play when we noticed that player match wasn't highlighted like the rest of the sections in the menu. When we tried to choose quick play it didn't let us for some strange reason. I was already signed into xbl so I didn't see what the problem was. We finally gave up after 20 minutes of signing in and out of xbl, and continued our band world tour. When all of a sudden I received a game invite. So I accepted it and we finally got to play online. Then when we left the match we tried to once again search for a match, same shit happened. After giving up on Rockband and not playing for about four days, I had a group of friends come over and we noticed that the online menu was once again highlighted. So basically it was working again I still don't know why the fuck that happened in the first place. I was just glad it had finally started working again....

So yesterday I finally received my 360 back from the repair center. Well they gave me a brand new one because they obviously could not fix my old one. So again me and my sister were anxious to play some Rockband. Everything seemed to be fine until we tried to play a band world tour. All of a sudden the screen turned black and read disc unreadable. Which was really odd because the week before I had my friend bring his 360. We played for 2 hours with no problem. I also looked at my cd it had no scratches on it! SoOoo now I don't know if its my disc that is fucking up or my new console. Yet again I did play some COD4 and had no problems with it. So I really don't know what the problem is. I need help! ANYONE have a clue?

I also had a similar problem with my GEARS OF WAR. It only let me play story mode when I tried to join a online match it let me stay in the room for about 2 minutes before kicking me out. With the same disc unreadable bullshit. WTF!

Try playing your 360 games in a PS3, it runs them now. The Wii also does, but with less power comes framerate slowdown. Halo 3 is nearly unplayable on the Wii...

i had a similar problem on rock band but for me i couldnt play score duel on drums,i could play tug of war but score duel was greyed out. it lasted about 2 weeks and then all of a sudden it went away.i thought my system was crapping out as well but thank god it didnt. that would suck if u would have to send your xbox right back to MS

Since I've got my 3rd 360 it won't read disks on occasion. Annoying but there's nothing to be done as it's only on red-ring warrantee. I would suggest getting in contact with customer services ASAP.

P.s. Don't tell me you were being sarcastic too, Vixen. It'll totally spoil the lulz.

in all honesty me darling, it would be highly unlikely that it's your disk. I would put this down to general "arse-ness" and just try it again. Some kind of confusion is pobably going down electronically; but if your disk's not scratched and it has worked before the only think it could be is your console. And you've just had your console changed...

so that's my advice...try it again - OR! you could try gently bashing it with a wrench on the side.

And to get back on topic, sounds like you might need to get ready to send your 360 back in. I'd hate to say it, but if it's screwing up that much, it's likely to crash.

Sounds like a dirty lens to me. I would go out and buy one of those lens cleaners for cd-roms. That 'may' work, or I would call microsoft and explain to them that the 360 they sent back to you was faulty.

To be absolutely sure its your xbox, take those cds that dont read and try them in a friends 360 if you can get to one. And see if its not the discs themselvs.

My PS2 does this weird thing where the disc isn't readable unless the PS2 is upright.

- How are you connecting to Xbox Live? (Wireless, Cat 5, through another PC?)
