There's nothing in a name
Vimto | 3:06 AM on 07.23.2009 7 comments

So the name game goes on, as infinity ward are on a desperate scramble to try and brand the up and coming
Modern Warfare 2 correctly.

A press release saying "the call of duty series is a precious one, therefore getting the brand right, is important,
therefore we won't be giving the final word on this till closer to a release."

This kind of behavior to me seems erratic and somewhat unnerving, But then again this is Activision. Infinity
Ward should stick to their guns and cut the bullshit, its not gonna make a difference people know what the bloody
game is and fans are going to buy accordingly.

Actually this is really important to them. If they can separate the brands they have opportunities to further branch out and sell games based on two popular brand names instead of one. I agree, it doesnt really need to be done so publicly like this though, they really should have sorted this shit out BEFORE they released/leaked cover art.

Hmmm... I wonder if he carries any JuicyBanHammers??

Yeah, ToiletDuck is right, they should have sorted this all out in private. It doesn't matter what it's called... well unless they name it "Modern Resistance to the Halo Killzone" - in which case, it would probably still sell!

It may not impact gamers who are involved in the game blogging community, but for the general public it significantly increases the product's identification.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?

Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
