So yeah, I said I wanted to type up some entries on my take on Gaming Psychology.
I guess I should start by outlining what my defination of this is, huh?
--------------------------------
-How You Display It-
I believe that games, through force of entry into daily life, create habitual tendencies akin to that of addiction but on a more positive scale. Through the playing of games we broaden our ability to imagine, construct and engineer through out-of-sequence thought processes. We are able to improve our social awareness and habits through discussion and integration with fellow gamers. Different Levels of integration of course vary, and this does not include the arguement of 'what is hardcore' and the like.
I'll elaborate on this section in future Posts.
Don't jump to conclusions people!

-How Developers Utilize It On You-
By far my favorite (as I want to use this one day)
Game Design is drenched in mind provoking tidbits of input and reaction. We all know that FPS's can hone your twitch and reflexive skills, puzzle games your thinking skills, RTS's your strategy etc. But have you ever thought of how developers, intentionally or unintentionally use different enviromental, story and gameplay ideals to personally change your habits from one game to another?
By inputing different cues into games, the developer is able to influence how you think and how you react, thereby making your reflex to their cause seem natural.
(with or without your consent! It's instinct!)
By studying the habits of humans in general, developers can anticipate player reaction and habits. This is an essential part of Testing when creating a game, but it can also be used in a variety of different applications that the common user often tends to ignore or be oblivious to.
Again, this will be elaborated on in future posts!

--------------------------------

Sorry if I didn't really go into these, or if I confused some already, but I'm out of it lately and don't really have the patience right now to sit down and ramble even more on my projections.
As a consolation, here's a funky decal featuring Ninja!

So yeah, Megaman 9 guys.
Who's loving/hating the retroness of it?
It's grown on me fast and I'm looking forward to it.
I'm scared the MASSIVE engine they're using will result in delay after delay though!
It's the next Duke Nukem! [/sarcasm]
I am stoked at the thought of the Zero series devs getting their hands on this.
Seriously though, no better hands to give this baby over to than those guys!
Oh, other than Sonic Team :D

Looking foward to read more about how developers use elements of the game to change our habits. I had never really thought about that; but, after reading, I can think of some games that made me change the way I usually react to situations.

oh, and the Ninja looks awesome!
