About Me
Iam a gammer from the harsh uruguayan jungle (we dont even have a jungle down here, too cold, go and do some wikipedia of Uruguay). I used to do a podcast in spanish about videogames at Radio LevelUp but I dont do it anymore... anyway those guys are there still making it so you can give it a try if you understand spanish
And i can say "aca aca aca" and i know how to pronoaunce it well since im a spanish speaker, so Im a superior race.
A couple of idiots may find funny that I dont have good english grammar, but again, they are probably idiots since they only speak/write one language...

Most of my time in the internet is because of games. I love videogames so much that i sleep with my girlfriend and my ds, at the same time... i call that a "threesome" and my humor doesnt get anything better than that.
Mostly im a PC gamer, i was going to buy a 360 but faulty crappy hardware told me not to since if it goes RRoD here I would have lost my money, and as a man Im entitled to the sweat of my brow. I want to fuck the Wii and I believe the PS3 is going to be the first console in space.

In the "real" life (come on, internet now is part of our lives anyway...), I study medicine (takes a lot of time and I cant spend enough of my time playing videogames). Is not what you would call a marriage made in heaven, if I wanted to game more I should have sutdy something related to pcs, but I grown surrounded by computers and stuff so I chose the bio stuff instead. Anyway, little time to play video games if you dont want my biographical shit.

And the main reasson I play games for the story behind them. I love well written stories like Half Life series, of course Portal (kind of a Valve fan). Other great games include World Of Warcraft (not currently playing, actually I was never hardcore, but I enjoyed the experience a lot), and of course the classics like System Shock 2. Other great titles had stuck with me over the years, classics adventure games like Monkey Island, Indiana Jones and Grim Fandango.

So, best game experiences:
Half Life 2 (and the original Half Life of course).
System Shock 2
Grim Fandango
Indiana Jones and the Fate Of Atlantis
Monkey Island

Obama has something to say about videogames...
Velt | 9:14 PM on 04.02.2008 17 comments

Im not an american so I dont care a lot for the presidential elections since I wont be voting. But I dont like this guy, he is like a communist, and I cant stop thinking that a socialist US president wouldnt be good for a country that I like because a man is entitled to the sweat of his brow...

Anyway, back to videogames, in this article in Kotaku they made it very clear, Obama hasnt say a lot around the issue of video games. But the things he has said they are not music for our ears:
"...parent better, and turn off the television set, and put the video games away, and instill a sense of excellence in our children..."

I mean, really. This guy should know better. My last post was about ESA facts about gamers:
"the average age of a gamer is 33 with only 28% of gamers under 18 years old, 25% of gamers are over 35 years old"

And still we have to hear stupids statements like we are either kids or retarded adults. Because the numbers dont lie, the majority of gamers can vote, and they are not going to turn off their videogames you f***ing communist.

Is this post awesome? Vote it up!

This is pretty old news.

What's so bad about telling parents and their kids to play less video games and do something constructive?

Old news or not, what's wrong with what Obama said? At what point did he say "video games are a blight to humanity and should be stomped out"? He encouraged parents to turn off the TV and be parents to their children.

Kinda OFN, but whatever. I don't mind so much: he's advocating good parenting and reasonable use, rather than the hours and hours that kids today are spoonfed as a substitute for social interaction and parental care. That's a wonderful approach, as long as he doesn't try to force it on anybody.

Communist? That's a new one.

Big Z is right. He didn't say video games are bad, it's just up to the parents to enforce rules if they are the ones complaining about the video games.

To slightly echo the above comments, exactly what is wrong with parents regulating what their children do? I had video games as a child, but I spent most of my time outside.

Obama wants parents to get involved, that's all he said. He did not say video games were the devil's plaything. Are most gamers adults? Yes. But not all of them are adults. Don't be so fucking dense. Kids shouldn't be playing video games all day anyways. They should be focusing on schoolwork and socializing. When you spend your whole life playing games and avoiding human contact, you end up a sociopath like Dprime.

I don't think either TV or video games should raise my children. Do you feel that way?

Velt, you must not have heard but you aren't allowed to say anything negative about Obama, that makes you racist.

Guys is ok. I get your point.
My opinion is that he (probably your next president), is thinking videogames as worthless, and for all that I know that statement as a whole is ignorant on the matter.

An informed statement, in my opinion, would be different. And not just plain talk out of my ass.

I call him a communist because I think is funny. Dont take it seriously.

"you end up a sociopath like Dprime" valid point & LMAO.

I agree with the comments and would also point out that whenever the government starts regulating video games because they find it too violent or unfit for children in any other regard, we all make the correct point that "it's the parents responsibility" or "where were the parents?". So I think he has a good point, he's not trying to ban video games (I'm looking at you Australia), he's trying to get adults to actually parent their child instead of letting TV or video games instill morals into the child.

And calm down with the Communist rant. The red scare is over McCarthy, you can come out of the bunker now.

So you're reposting a ridiculously sensationalizing Kotaku post that (if you look in the comments over there... my own included I might add) was summarily dismissed as hit mongering of the worst kind? Sounds like a worthwhile pursuit. Obama didn't say anything anti-game, is against government being involved in their regulation, etc.

Are your 2 minutes hate up yet?

Well, i can sense (i dont know why), that most of you guys are going to vote for this dude... wich is cool, but you seem to be attacking only because I say something not so good about him.

And this was not a hate post. I dont even live in the US.

Actually no the reaction is because the original Kotaku piece was such an obvious joke in and of itself. The very next line in the Obama speech is "The Government can't do everything" i.e. the Government shouldn't get involved in these things. If you had researched his actual positions on media issues you'd know they were pretty damn good.

"but you seem to be attacking only because I say something not so good about him."

Likewise, you seem to be attacking Obama because he says something not so good about videogames. And even then he's not saying anything specific about videogames.
