So yeah, Im all in for this kid of statements:
"The console is now a baseline. If you look at Gears of War or Assassin's Creed, they came out on console and they were great experiences - but the PC versions had additional aspects to them that also made them attractive, whether you owned the console version or not. The PC version was better. That's something that people need to get their heads around - the console is a baseline, the PC is going to be an improved version. That's an exciting future, and that's why I don't see anything threatening about console at all. The other aspect is that in the past, PC gaming development meant pandering to the lowest common denominator - which meant some poor integrated graphics. Today, developing a PC game means starting at a console, and console graphics are way above integrated graphics. That means the baseline is getting better. Now we're going to add to that version additional features, additional content, to make the PC version even better." I recomend the full version of the article for discussing the matter propertly... i mean, beyond anyone making a stupid comment like, you know: "PC gaming is too expensive, xbox rulez".

xbox rulez for them. :D
In other news, my PC won't run games my 360 will run without breaking a sweat until I plonk down at least £500.
The PC isn't an advanced console, its just a more expensive, less intuitive console. Gaming owes a great debt to the PC for bringing us stuff like Monkey Island and Half-Life, but people just need to come around to the fact that the PC can't do anything different from the consoles. Sure the graphics can continue to get incrementally better but that also jacks up the price again (hello Crysis). By this point most gamers are smart enough to know that PC exclusives are never going to remain exclusive. Unless of course their console scheme requires so many different buttons that they couldn't possibly be simplified (MS Flight Sim) or the hardcore fanbase would revolt at having the 'consoletards' invading their space (Starcraft).
What really gets me grinding about these things though is how its always the HARDWARE makers who feel the need to justify the existance of PC gaming. Why can't they just pour some of that effort into helping the software makers so the games can speak for themselves as we demand the consoles must?
You're just saying that cause you have a fancy new computer. :p
That's like saying a cow is improved hamburgers, or a lion is an improved house cat. Consoles are specifically made PCs, made specifically for gaming, whereas you can do anything you want with a PC, like not buy a $500+ graphics card when you can just get a refurbished system/cheaper parts that can run the latest games for $600.
In the end though, it all comes down to people seeing PC gaming as expensive... which makes sense. All the ads you see in magazines are pushing ridiculously inflated prices for a bunch of lasers, case mods, and tech that only the most impatient people on the planet "need" to have.
Ummm, the Odyssey (first generation console) came out before the first PCs.
I like gamez.
Me too!
